Disney done differently, (BOG dining updates pages 202 and 203)

He looks soooo cute in his Jedi outfit!! Did he like the ride? Glad he likes the new ride! That's awesome!!!

Chris has to pull that rope every time we walk by it. He thinks it's funny!! LOL DHS is also his favorite park!

Thanks! Earlier that day we had found it in the back of a closet. It belongs to Grumpy from years ago when he was little. Anakin tried it on and we couldn't get it off him. He even wanted to sleep in it. He thought the ride was "totally awesome".

That was the first we ever noticed the rope, lol.

Epcot is Anakin's favorite park. He never wants to go to DHS unless it's Star Wars Weekends or we are meeting someone there.

We didn't know how Star Tours would go since there is so much stimulation there. But Star Wars is his area of hyperfocus, so I guess he was willing to tolerate more.

That costume looks perfect for Analin!

I'm so happy that you were able to find a chair for him!!!!

Congrats on the stroller!

Love the pic of Anakin dressed up for Star Tours.

Hope all is well, and you guys are having a good weekend!! Hoping to see you sometime this week!! :)

The costume is a little big. Somewhere in the house there are pants to match with fake boots. I hope we can find them. We have until Aug 22, 2012. That is the costume he is wearing for the Star Wars Convention 2012!!

Congrats on the stroller!

Love the pic of Anakin dressed up for Star Tours.

Thanks! The stroller has been a godsend! I think we should get a good year out of it. They make an extender for the head, so if he doesn't gain much more weight we can make the stroller grow! I'd love to get a basket for the bottom. I think we will have to rig something up, because the basket from adaptive mall is well over $100.

It really came in handy the other night. As you know he had a seizure on Wed and ended up in the ER. By Thursday night he was begging to go to a park. We ate at the Tangierine Cafe, rode Grand Fiesta Tour and went home.

I had the Lamb Platter. Sorry no pics, had other things on my mind. I was never given so much meat there before! I had marinated olives instead of tabulah. They no longer permit substituting with fries, so I got an additional order of fries. Anakin had chicken nuggets, of course. Goofy had the lamb wrap. I usually don't like onions, but this time they were very sweet and not a bit strong!

We stopped at the American Pavillion for a Mickey Premium Bar. Did you know they sell them at the restaurant there. It's not on the menu though.

Hope all is well, and you guys are having a good weekend!! Hoping to see you sometime this week!! :)

Everything is back to "normal". I think we are heading to a park tonight. Are there any meets planned? Goofy has off Thursday this coming week, but Anakin goes for an MRI at All Children's.

Backtracking to the 22nd, I think.

After guest services, our first stop was Anakin's new favorite attraction!

7-16-2011to7-21-2011059.jpg

Then we were off to get my favorite snack at MK, chili cheese chips from Friar's Nook. Much to my disappointment they changed the menu! This was also the first time since Christmas week, we saw it opened.

The new menu:

The Fantasyland expansion area

Since the menu item I was looking for wasn't there, we headed over to Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe to cool down and get a snack.

We ended up getting meals. DS got chicken nuggets, what else?! And Goofy and I shared the chicken and ribs. No wonder they hid the ribs on our plate, they were tough and chewy. Usually they are so wonderful they melt in your mouth and the meat just falls of the bone. NOT this time! I'm glad it wasn't my first time ordering this or, I wouldn't have ordered it again. The chicken was very good, the beans were steamed to perfection!

7-16-2011to7-21-2011070.jpg

Once Anakin was cooled down enough we headed over to Buzz Lightyear! The FP line was HUGE!! We parked the stroller at the tower plaza and got in line. At first Anakin was over joyed that his battery packs were back!!! He missed them so much.

7-16-2011to7-21-2011074.jpg

But the ride kept shutting down and we'd hear the announcement. He was determined to ride, so we stayed in line. By the 3rd time the ride stopped, he was minding it, but he insisted he just had to ride. He began rocking to calm himself. He didn't want us to talk. So we left him alone and he rocked until the line finally moved.

7-16-2011to7-21-2011076.jpg

Once the line moved, it continued and we got on the ride. At the end of the first room, the attraction stopped again. Thankfully we could still shoot and rack up points. So it wasn't frustrating at all to Anakin. I was riding solo and got high scores on both guns.

7-16-2011to7-21-2011083.jpg

7-16-2011to7-21-2011080.jpg

It made the rest of the ride a bit boring though!

7-16-2011to7-21-2011085.jpg

Anakin's face never shows on the pictures the attraction takes :(

7-16-2011to7-21-2011088.jpg

All the delay at Buzz Lightyear had worn him out. He wanted to go home. We made it to Main St. and his forhead was dripping with sweat, so we went to cool down at the Main St. Bakery. We split an icecream cookie sandwich 3 ways.

7-16-2011to7-21-2011090.jpg

We walked through the shops on the way out. The hand blown glass was fascinating.

Next stop was the monorail, then the TTC and home. I'm so glad we have annual passes, because to pay $80 for a day and only go on two attractions would be frustrating. It's nice to be able to just go in small chunks and take it easy.

That was one determined little man, so great he was able to keep himself calm while waiting! great job on the high score!

we were the same way with our DLR AP when we lived an hour away, go in for a few hours and couple times a month!

He was VERY determined.

Do you miss not being close to DLR? Did you have relatives there too? Do you think you will ever move back?

I really think its great he can figure out for himself what he needs to do when its something important for him!

Yes we do miss it! no family, Jim built a golf course out in Thousand Oaks which is west of LA, don't think we'd ever move back to CA, way to expensive and the schools are going in the dumper!
I am planning a trip to DLR in Feb to surprise Megan over Pres Day weekend, she has 3 days off for winter break!

That is one determined boy (I would have been SOOOOOOO out of there); good for him.

That ice cream sandwich looks yummy (I think I'll go make myself an ice cream sundae since our air is out again!).

I was so glad the rocking was working. In the process of switching bags, I had forgotten to pack his brush for the Wilbarger Brushing and his gum. We never go anywhere without gum unless we have apples, and we had neither. Both were at home in his swim bag.

Now that you mention DLR in Feb, I do remember reading that. Sounds like a wonderful time for you and Megan! Are you staying on property?

Goofy and I didn't mind being in the queue. It was airconditioned! The only thing that bothered us was the people behind us didn't understand about personal space. We had to provide a space for Anakin. They were determined to fill in all space (we weren't at HM, lol). I was behind Anakin and Goofy until I couldn't take the people pushing me. These were adults, not children. They were leaning on me to move me forward. Remember, the attraction had stopped. They were announcing for people to remain seated in the cars. We weren't going anywhere. Heck, when we got on the ride, Goofy and Anakin got in one car, and the person smushed to me almost got in my car with me, she was that close!

The icecream sandwich is one of our new favorites. I really liked the sugar cookie and Goofy said the chocolate chip was really good too! It's a good value at just over $4.

sorry about the pushing people, that's one of my biggest pet peeve, you're not going to get on any sooner people when your on top of me :headache:

I hope to stay at DL hotel, depends on the prices, if too much we have a regular hotel we usually stay at that's within walking distance to the parks!

Lol, it was crazy, I should have let her sit with me. Wonder if they would have let her out of the car once she sat?

Either way, it sound like fun! I'd love to go back to DLR. My one and only trip was in 1981.

Yesterday afternoon after Grumpy and Goofy got back from fishing in the gulf, we decided to see if Sci-Fi had any openings. I went online and found one for 4:05pm. Grumpy was too tired from waking up early to fish so he took a nap instead.

As we entered DHS, Anakin spotted a street actor. He was a police man with a banana in his gun holster. This tickled Anakin as he tried to figure out the logic of a banana. He couldn't figure it out, so he asked him why he has a banana? He was told it's in case there is any monkey business! That went so far over his head. And required explanation later. He told the police man that he didn't get it.

The policeman spotted Agent P on Anakin's shirt. He asked us if we've seen Phinneas and Ferb. He told us where to go to see them and that they were there 'til 7pm.

We were booking it to our ADR because we were really cutting it close. We had a police escort up to the hat, when he turned around and told us to have a great meal and he hoped we would see Phinneas and Ferb.

Checked into Sci-Fi, sat down and our name was called right away!

I wasn't in the mood for substantial food. Instead I got the high calorie, good stuff. Spinach and artichoke dip with chips and the cheese cake with treats. Goofy got a burger. Anakin got pizza and apples. I got the unlimited refills vanilla coke and Goofy got the unlimited refills cherry coke. Anakin got milk.

The spinach and artichoke dip was very good! Either I was hungry or they changed how they made it. It tasted better than I had remembered.

2011-07-26-30016.jpg

The cheesecake with treats was sooooooo disappointing. Years ago it came with caramel corn, M&Ms, a caramel syrup. This time it said cheesecake with treats, with raspberry sauce. I don't know where the treats were? And it was a cheesecake alternating layers with red velvet cake. That was not on the description in the menu! I was disappointed in the dessert.

I had to separate the cakes since I can't eat chocolate and there is chocolate in the red velvet cake. The whip cream was good. The cheesecake was dry. It wasn't easy to swallow. It definately needed the raspberry syrup AND The whip cream. The red velvet cake did not feel moist at all.

I wish I had a picture of the old version of the cheesecake and treats. I took a pic of the new one. I feel badly now for recommending it to so many people. I didn't realize it changed.

Next up was Toy Story Mania. No pictures here. But we made an amazing discovery!!! Anakin was at the top of the steps. He was holding the railing with the same had as his glasses. He was clinging to the railing saying he was scared to do the steps. I took his glasses from him and held his hand. By this time the people in front of us were at the bottom of the steps. Anakin spoke "step, step, step, step..." and was able to place one foot on each step as he went down. He did this quickly and didn't double step any stair! Who knew that a pair of glasses could be so distracting?! I think the next time he needs stair practice we will head to Mexico and let him practice there with no Duffy in hand.

Next stop was Star Tours.

2011-07-26-30032.jpg

Would you believe this was the 3rd ride ever. We got the exact same loading dock, E, all 3 times. This time Darth Vader was the one looking for the rebel spy. The going backwards made me feel dizzy, but it was such a cool experience! We arrived in a new land for us. Can't remember it's name and Anakin is sleeping, so can't ask him. I'll call it Wookieland. Again we saw General Akbar, and for the 3rd time in a row we went to Naboo.

We had forgotten about the Phinneas and Ferb Meet and Greet. It was 6:30 so we didn't know if they still would be out there. We prepared Anakin that there was a possibility they were not allowing people in line. That we didn't want crying if we couldn't get to see them. We would try another day if it didn't work out. He said he could do that.

We got there and there was a HUGE queue!! Maybe HUGE isn't strong enough to describe this line. It was still opened and the line was in the shade! It was 96 degrees outside with a higher heat index, so it still felt hot.

The cm attending to the queue gave an announcement that they had 7 more minutes. I was having trouble hearing her over the people in the queue. But she heard me ask Goofy what she said. She heard me and came over to us. She welcomed us to the Phinneas and Ferb meet and greet and told us it would probably be a 40 minute wait from where we were standing.

We tried to talk Anakin into another day trying it, but he really wanted to see Phinneas and Ferb. We told him it was unsafe for him to stay in the heat for 40 minutes. She suggested one of us take him in the store to cool off and that she would go get them when it was our turn. Anakin liked that idea, so they went in the store. She was doing a great job of keeping up the line moral!

She stopped by me a couple more times. We began talking about James Arnold Taylor being able to make the noise of Perry. I asked her if she saw his voice show during SWW. I told her we missed it, since Anakin can only do a little chunk of Disney parks at a time. She said it was great, she had seen it. She asked if it was the sun or the heat that bothered Anakin. I explained how heat was one of his seizure triggers. We talked a bit more about being an annual passholder.

Phinneas and Ferb had to leave and she came back to me as they were leaving. She asked me to get out of line and follow her. She offered to go get Anakin and Goofy, but I knew where they'd be so I got them. She made magic happen, as she took us to a shady spot by the wall. Another cm met us there. He asked if we were the family she had told him about. He said we like to take care of our annual pass friends. He instructed Veronica, our new cm friend to stay with us. She said we would be their special family who gets to see P&F first.

I was expecting a show with dancing and songs as I had seen on other posts. But I guess that has changed. They came out and went right over to us! Hugging Anakin first then all of us. Ended up getting pics of all of us together for once! I was so appreciative to Veronica and the other cm's who sprinkled some pixie dust!! Definately going to praise her through guest comments online!

It truely was THE BEST DAY EVER!!

Too cute about the policeman....nice he gave you an escort :goodvibes

we love Sci-Fi, too bad they changed the cheesecake...did you ask what was going on? I would of sent it back and/or gotten it taken off my bill!

How magical for you all! Love it when CM's go the extra little mile! she made a little boy and mama very happy! Love the family photo!!

I did ask about the cheesecake, but apparently it's been that way for a while, because our server had no clue what I was talking about. He said, this is the redvelvet cheesecake.

Dh and I were trying to figure out our last time eating there. It was either May 2010 or June 2009. Other than that, the menu didn't seem to change. There were a couple new film clips.

We ate at EoS for supper tonight. When we got there at 5:30pm the restaurant was empty. When we left the place, every table was taken and the line was long to order. Our timing was perfect! The same thing happened with parking. When we got to DTD we had no problem finding a parking spot. When we left, the parking lot was bottlenecking from people waiting to park.

We stopped at WoD. Anakin was thrilled to find Disney has their own version of pillow pets now. But disappointed we wouldn't just buy him one right away.

He had a blast pin trading. One of the cm did magic tricks with his pins. He thought it was great! Another cm was talking with Anakin. He mentioned that he was going to the hospital for tests tomorrow. She said that she was going to the doctor tomorrow to find out results of her own tests. She wished Anakin the best and gave him a pin. He was thrilled with the pin! We wished her the best and promised he would stop by soon to tell her his good news about his test!

I love how much Disney Magic the CM's give Anakin  hope his tests go great!
hope to eat at EofS this trip, missed it in March!

boy I'd better not let Megan see those pillow pets, she really wants one of the regular ones, so this is going to be tough!

BTW, I just changed our resort ressie....Megan was looking through our Passported and like how POFQ looked....told her no, maybe next trip....went on line to check it out and the difference from POP wasn't much, so changed! bonus they have the fridge and coffee maker! ssh, though I'm going to surprise her! Jim and I lived in New Orleans one summer so look forward to being around the FQ styling!!!

sounds like you've had a few nice afternoons lately at the parks. I can't believe how far the construction has come! i love hearing that the CM's treated you right at P&F!. I knew that they had a pluto pillow pet, but i had no idea that there were others! i'm off to check the website for those babies!
