I know this info must be here somewhere, but I can't find it. :rolleyes1 What exactly are you able to use Disney dollars on? Are they good at the food carts in the parks? Can you pay your Disney hotel bill with them? I'm buying $10 a week for my trip next October, and I am trying to figure out how much I really need. Thanks! :wave2:

Yes, you can use it anywhere on Disney property. The food carts, restaurants, shops, at the resort...as long as it's owned by Disney. I've even used them at the food carts at DTD.

Dumb question - but where exactly can I buy Disney Dollars? I would love to get some to give DH and DD as their spending money. Thanks, in advance!

WE LOVE DISNEY DOLLARS, we took them with us in August and used them everywhere on site, even the snack carts, you will get change in real money.

We are also planning to go back next october, I might start buying them now also

They cannot be used at the Disney-owned properties that are not resorts, such as the Grosvenor, etc., hotels. Also, only some stores at Downtown Disney accept them. Just FYI. We got burned trying to use them in a hotel that is Disney-owned but isn't one of the resorts. Go figure.

The Grosvenor is not owned by Disney. It is a Downtown Disney Area Hotel, but like the Swan and Dolphin, they are owned and operated by a company separate and apart from Disney. There are also shops and restaurants in Downtown Disney that are not owned by Disney (like Lego, McDonald's).

The safest thing to do is to ask if Disney Dollars will be accepted before you make your purchase.

If you do not have a Disney Store near you, you can order Disney Dollars by mail by sending your request stating how much you want in what denominations ($1, $5, $10 or $50) to:

WDW Ticketing
Attn: Disney Dollars
PO Box 10140
Lake Buena Vista, FL 32830

Include a note describing the amount of each desired denomination ($1, $5, or $10).

The shipping charge is $3 unless you want "Express" delivery (5-7 business days) then it is $10.

IMPORTANT Reminder: If you use a credit card to purchase Disney Dollars, any amount over $50 will be treated like a cash advance and your account charged the corresponding fees. All mail orders will be charged $10 per order shipping and handling. There is a limit of $650 per order. Make checks payable to "Walt Disney World Ticket Services".

Option 2: phone/fax
From the AllEars newsletter
A few months ago, a reader sent in a tip on ordering Disney Dollars through the mail. Ramona writes with an even speedier method: "We are going to Disney World this May. I wanted to give our two boys Disney Dollars for their Easter basket. Since we do not have a Disney Store very close by, I wanted to find out if I could order them -- but knowing I was under a time constraint (less than two week s) I was worried they would not arrive in time. I was told that I could order via fax. I faxed in my order first thing Monday morning, and what do you know? The very next morning, there was the Fed Ex guy with my Disney Dollars! The best part was that the shipping was free! You can fax your order complete with the denominations ($1's, $5's, or $10's), name, address, and credit card information, to 1-407-566-5645. Thanks, Disney, for the first class service... AGAIN! "

More Disney dollar info: If you order them through central reservations, which is where that mysterious allearsnet.com fax number went through, you can do it over the phone instead of via fax at 407-566-4985 ...have also heard there is a $10 shipping charge per order via phone.

That's what made it so confusing -- I specifically asked Grosvenor if they were owned by Disney, and they said they were. :confused3 Then again, the Ghirardelli shop, which is NOT Disney owned, said they were trying to get the machine so they could accept rewards points off the card.

Mickeysaver - Thank you so much for taking the time to reply to my post and sharing this information. I will definitely send away for the Disney Dollars, in that case - my kids will get a real kick out of it. What a great incentive to keep them on top of their chores too :cool1:

Ok this is another dumb question but just wanted to make sure  Do disney dollars ever expire? or are they just like cash. Also do I get change back in cash or disney dollars when I use them? Thanks we are saving some but our trip is a year or two away and just wanted to make sure before I saved to many :rotfl:

Disney dollars do not expire. When you pay for something with them, you get $USD in return...not Mickey Money.

Thanks for all the great info on disney dollars :) We are going to WDW the week after Thanksgiving. I have planned on ordering some disney dollars to give my DD9 and DD11 for a Halloween treat (instead of candy) :smooth:

2005-WL :hourglass

A DD idea ... If I am planning a trip, I will purchase a few Disney Dollars every month until I go. Put them on my Disney Visa. When it's time for my trip, I get more Disney Visa reward points because of the previously purchased Disney Dollars, have a much smaller Visa bill when I return home (lowers the shock level when the bill arives), & it's just fun to shop with Disney Dollars!
