Disney Dollars

I went to our Disney store tonight to get some Disney Dollars and the girl said they no longer sell them in the stores, she said they had to pull them all about 2 days ago, didn't know why she said. Does anyone here know why they did this?? I have quite a few for our trip in December and I'm worried about them..

Not to worry, you will still be able to use them at Disney. From what I've heard they are looking to go more the gift card route. My thinking (and I hope it isn't Disney's thinking) is that with the Disney dollars you were able to get your money back in cash so they may have been losing some money there and with a gift card there is no getting cash back, you have to spend that money at Disney or the Disney Store. I also suspect that the gift cards may be cheaper than having the disney dollars made. That is just my thoughts though. I do hope they reconsider because it's a great way to make kids accountable for their own spending money. I find it's easier to keep track of how much money you have with $$ than with a gift card.

I was at my locoal Disney Store yesterday and thought I'd ask about the disney dolloars...nope they sent theres back as well. She did say you can call Disney and order them to be shipped to you.

Aww that's sad my kids enjoyed doing chores to earn disney dollars...

We have made our own before with a chart so that my kids could purchase things on vacation ...like 1/2 hour arcade time...10 disney dollars: next ride your choice 5 dollars...and so on.
I just cut out pictures of disney stuff and glued to different colored paper.
I gave some to my kids teachers and they were able to reward them for excellent work during the day. this was especally helpfull when it is just a week or so away from vacation and the mind is only focusing on Disne(Like my mind all the time! lol)
