Where can I purchase Disney Dollars? I think it would be cool to give some to my DD (4) to use as her spending money in the parks this summer.

I bought mine at our local Disney Store a few months back.

I am planning on giving my boys $5.00 Disney Dollars each day to spend on whatever. They can spend the $5.00 at once or save up $5.00 each day to purchase something that is more expensive. Once they spent their $5.00, they knew they had to wait til the next day to get the next installment. This definitely worked for me on our last trip there and certainly cut down on the "I wants". They had their own money, had to decide if it was something they REALLY wanted, and had a good lesson on how to budget.

We just celebrated my Ds bday in Disneyland last week. He got ton's of Disney dollars from family and friends, they got them at our local Disney stores, World of disney store in DTD, and my dad purchased some in City Hall and the Emporium shop on main street.

I get mine at our Disney Store. My kids love these, we use them for allowances and everything.

Can someone tell me more about this? Can Disney dollars be used anywhere in Disney? Are they the same as cash? Are they refundable if they aren't all used? We have a Disney store and this sounds like a great thing to put in Easter Baskets and use as rewards as we get closer to our trip.

I'm pretty sure you can use them anywhere in the park.......just not entirely sure about the food carts. They are treated the same as cash, however when you get change back, you get regular money, not Disney money.

Disney Dollars can be used anywhere that is owned and operated by Disney, so can Disney gift cards. You can use them at Disney property hotels, Disneyland, California Adventure, all 4 WDW parks, and any Disney store. The only exception is that if you have a gift card you may not be able to use it at a vendors cart because they cant run a card, you can use the disney dollars here as well though. I just asked this last time I went to buy some because my mom was afraid my sister wouldn't spend all her money in the parks.

You can use them anywhere you can use cash. Gift cards are not accepted everywhere because some of the carts don't have scanners, but the DD can be used at those carts. If you have leftovers at the end of your trip take them to City Hall and cash them in for cash. We don't do that, we just keep them for our next trip but many years ago we did cash in DD for real cash, we did not need the receipt then but you might now.

I just bought some Disney Dollars at the Disney Store they are so cute...they come $1....$5....and $10...also I purchase to gift cards for my teenager too.

Ack, I'm so bummed! I went to my local Disney Store today to purchase the dollars and they were out! They're closing next week and renovating until June so Disney hasn't sent them any more. There goes my plans to passing them out to the kids whenever I notice they have done a good deed.

On the upside, everything in the store was 50% off. I got one of those super poofy deluxe Belle gowns with matching shoes, a long sleeve Toy Store tee shirt, 3 2-packs of Crocs Jibbitz (I got Cinderella, Belle, Ariel, Jasmine and Donald and Daisy Duck), and an Ariel glittery cup for $46.

You could make up some vouchers for the disney dollars, then when you get into the parks go into a main store and buy them, then distribute them.
