Hi folks - longtime lurker, first time poster.

Can anybody help me out?
With the Pound so strong against the dollar, now is the time to start saving some spending money for my Oct trip:woohoo:, but...
I'd like to get hold of some Disney Dollars, but can't find a way to order them from the UK.

Does anybody know if it's possible?

Thanks in advance.

Hi peajay18 :wave2:

:welcome: Welcome to the DIS :welcome:

I am afraid it's not possible to buy Disney dollars from the UK :( Unless you can find a kindly Dis'er with a forthcoming trip who will do a deal with you ;)

Firstly :welcome: :rainbow: :welcome: Peajay18

I went to look at the exchange rate today down the high street and it's 1.90 to our pound which is great.
When we went last Sept the rate Varied between 1.71 - 1.79 to our pound so if you can start getting them now if i were you. Good luck.

When we went a kindly Dis-er e-mailed me a document with several scanned £1 Disney dollars on it, which I printed out and cut up to make my kids' spending allowance - of course I had to exchange them for real dollars in the shops:rotfl: It was helpful to set them a daily allowance, and it meant they could carry "their" money without me worrying. If they wanted something in the parks they gave me the number of dollars and I added it to my roomkey/credit card, giving them the change in real cents.

Sadly my PC hard drive got fried so I've lost that, all my plans from that trip, everything  Luckily my pics were already on Snapfish! But I bet if you post on the US planning board someone will be able to come up with that for you.

Otherwise I'd just start buying ordinary $ in the Post Office, in ours you can buy any number from $1 up on the spot now.

Welcome to the boards!:cheer2:

Is a good time to buy - I had a little look today and we are gonna exchange some spends ready for April.

Don't know much about Disney Dolars sorry!

Welcome to the boards!

I got some dollars last week at the pound is strong, though this changes rapidly so it can alter from day to day.

Redgarding disney dollars I get them on my first day from MK, I don't think you can get them from the UK.

Maybe someone who lives in Florida may sell them but it is likely to cost you.

I would buy some dollars and then exchange them to Disney dollars when you get there, that way you don't lose any money on them.

Hi

What are Disney dollars, have been 5 times and never used them

Its Disney's own currency, you can buy them in the park $1US=$1DD and spend them in the Disney parks. People also collect them, I have some form our first visit about 14 years ago that are worth a few pounds each now.
If you search on ebay Disney Dollars it will give you some to look at(some are copies but you will see them)
Heres link to one http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/MICKEY-MOUSE-...923QQihZ018QQcategoryZ376QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

There is also the other problem with disney dollars....they are so lovely you never want to spend them. We were sent some, as compensation, by Disney 3 years ago. They are still sat in the safe!!

i never knew about the Disney Dollars but will get some on our next trip to keep.pixiedust: :cheer2: :cool1:

That is exacty why they sell them, The amount of people that take them home, sell them on ebay, mount them in a frame, shove them in a drawer, etc they are making a fortune from a bit of printed paper especially if you frame a set with $5 and $10 notes, they get $16 for a few cents of paper and ink.

Thanks for all the info - disappointed that I can't get my hands on some Disney Dollars.
I guess regular US ones will have to do (and can't complain too much at these great exchange rates...) :thumbsup2

I just thought they were a fun way to save some spending money - I might pick some up as souvenirs, but I was more interested in getting them before we left. Oh well, dead presidents it is.
Disney have missed a trick not making them available online to the UK.

Thanks again!
