Surprising the kids with April trip, Easter week (I know, huge crowds). So excited!! Bought $200.00 in disney dollars today. My question is can I use them ANYWHERE in the parks? We're staying off site so we'll probably have all of our lunches off site. Probably CS meals for dinner.

DITTO...you can use them ANYWHERE!

Oh, and even though you're staying off site, doesn't mean you have to eat at all offsite restaurants! There are many great options onsite, too...and you can use your Disney Dollars for them!!!! :thumbsup2

I was thinking of getting a few $5 dd and some $1 and puttinghtem in those easter egs and leavingthem around the room on Easter morning. This way they will have a few $ to spend.

What's the difference between Cash and Disney Dollars? I know Disney Dollars can only be used for Disney, but what's the pros and cons to having them besides everyone just having cash to purchase things in Disney?

Can you buy them at a Discount? Do you get a discount on things?

Is it like a gift card/certificate that limits you on where you can use it?

Just curious. If there is a website which explains the Disney Dollars, please let me know.

Thanks,

I don't think there is a difference but I know my kids love having the disney dollars . They have disney characters on them and they think they are more special then money.

Disney dollars are a great way to save for Disney. I have 310 dollars so far for my trip in December. We save up our change and take it the bank, then to the local disney store.

You cannot buy Disney Dollars at a discount. The exchange is actual $1 for $1 Disney Dollar.

They are used exactly like cash everywhere in WDW and DTD (most all @ DTD). You can even exchange them directly for cash if you choose.

To PP about putting them in Easter eggs...THANKS!! Brilliant idea! :thumbsup2

I know you said they can be used for anything just have to double check does that mean the pirates cruise? What about tips? We are on the ddp but like to tip extra if the service calls for it.
--Another good idea I got on this board is d$ for allowance! Will be doing the egg thing too! Thanks!!! :thumbsup2

We no longer have any Disney stores nearby. I was just wondering if you can still order them directly. I think I remember calling a number and doing this last spring, but I can't find the number I called. Thanks very much for any info. on this.

I just had this similar problem. I wanted to buy Disney Dollars for my children for our upcoming trip. I called Disney & was told that I can buy them for a 10$ shipping charge. I think it is silly to have to pay extra (but I guess the Disney way) to buy "money" to spend at THEIR resort. I have no Disney store in my area either. I asked a co-worker in CA to pick some up for me. She shipped them the same day and now I have the special 50th Anniversary dollars. I am not sure that I really want to use them now! :teeth:
