What is the benefit, if any, to using Disney Dollars over regular money?

There isn't any real benefit. I like to get them for DD so she can't spend them before our trip. (Okay, sometimes I do it so I won't spend money before our trip.) Otherwise, they're just fun.

Using them, no advantage, but as SLP87 said, it is a great way to force yourself to save for a Disney trip. I will be going to DL in August and have been cashing out all my rewards programs for either Disney GCs or Disney Dollars, if available. If not, I try to cash out for virtual Visa and then use that to buy GCs or DDs. That way I know I will have spending money for the days we are in DL/DCA/DTD.

There is one advantage to Disney Dollars that I can thing of. If you are in the park and need cash but only have your credit card, you can purchase Disney Dollars instead of using the ATM and paying fees.

I buy Disney Dollars for our trip as a way of saving specifically for DL. Every time we go to the Disney Store, I will buy some Disney Dollars. We have $200 so far but I am aiming for $300-$400 so we won't have to worry about money while we are at DL. On our last trip, we didn't eat a single meal in DL so we are ready to splurge this trip.

Kids love it because its got the new Princess dollars... kids also use them so they know how much they have... i have 5 cinderellas and 2 Princess Aurora! :P

No real advantage they are just treated like cash. They are pretty cute though. I get them and disney gift cards as a way to save money for the trip.

Advantage? Ummm, they are cuter than regular dollars. :confused3
