What is the difference. Can you spend Dollars places you can't a GC or
vice versa? Can you use either at Disney restaurants?

Thanks for the info.

I was going to post and ask the same thing! We'll be on the DDP in September and so I'm hoping to use either the Disney Dollars or the Disney Gift Card to cover the things in restaurants that the DDP won't cover (i.e. alcohol :drinking1 ) and then use the rest for souveniers.

I was also wondering if I would be better off getting Disney Dollars or the GC, so I"ll be watching your thread! (Sorry I don't have an answer for you, though!)

Really there are pros and cons to both. I like the gift cards because it is less to carry around and you can have more money on it.

For me it depends on what I want to use if for..right now I am working on paying off our vacation package so I will be opting for the Gift Cards. Once that is done, then I will opt for the DDs for spending. :thumbsup2

Both can be used virtually all over WDW. Besides the fact that the gift cards are easier to carry, the only other difference is with the DD you get US dollars back as chenge for the unused portions. I generally just charge everything back to my room and then pay my bill off with whatever combination I have in DD, gift cards, or disney rewards points.

The other difference is that, if you keep your original receipt for the GC, you can get it replaced if it's lost. With DD there's nothing you can do if you lose them.

To me, this is a really big one when you are cashing out from a rewards program, especially if it is a lot of money. Depending on which rewards program it is and how they are sending them, you stand a much better chance of getting a gift card replaced than Disney Dollars that get lost in the mail.

Personally I like GC but my only concern is the expiration of them. Right now there is no expiration date but I am not going back to DW until 2009 and I know they can change their rules on the cards anytime. So, for the moment, I am going with DD. The kids will like them for their spending money, too.:)

I like the cards for the bigger amounts. Plus you can use them to pay off your trip.
