I am trying to get ready for our trip and.....

Well, I thought I would get the kids money in a gift certificates instead on the disney dollars because it would be a lot easier to handle at the parks. So, I went to the disney store to get them. when I was explaining to the cast member what I was doing, she said Walt Disney World will not take gift certificates anywhere in the World. So, I end up getting the disney dollars. I was surprise they let me get $250 all at once. I think, the ladies were felling sorry for me.

The cast member did say, she had the same thought, to bring down gift certificates instead of disney dollars. but when she got down there no one will take them.

Did anybody had this experience too?

Gift cards purchased at TDS cannot be used at the parks. Disney Dollars can be spent all over the "world" though and $250 was an acceptable amount for them to let you purchase at one time. The limit is even a bit higher for a one time purchase.

I have purchased Disney gift certificates from Central Reservations. It says right on the certificates that they are good throughout WDW. I don't think you can get these at the DS, though.
