Disney Dollars on Disney Visa

We are going to WDW the first week of July.....right after the double points end for the Disney Visa Card.

If I go to a Disney store and buy Disney Dollars before the double points are up and put the cost on the Disney Visa is it treated like 'Cash Advance' (meaning interest starts right then), or is it like a regular purchase?

We pay off our cards every month and I don't want to have to pay interest, and I don't want to start now.

I am going to use my rewards to use onboard when we go on the Disney Cruise so the double points have been helpful.

I have purchased Disney Dollars at the DS and it is a credit card purchase --if you qualify for double points you will get them as well.

The Disney Dollar would be treated just like a giftcard purchase. They are not a cash advance. You will get your rewards dollars for the purchase and you will not begin paying interest from the date of purchase unless you do not pay your balance in full.

how do you get double points on the Disney Visa?

I got a card in the mail in March, and the 'Double Disney Dream Reward Dollars' promotion started on March 15th and ends June 30th.

I don't know if everyone got this same promotion in the mail. It says you earn the usual 1% Disney Dream Reward Dollars for the first $150 each month, but after that you earn 2% on whatever you charge over that.

I am saving up my reward dollars to put on my account on the Disney Cruise in September, and I can use every Dollar I can get! So that is why I am thinking of buying Disney Dollars for our trip to WDW in July, the week after the promotion ends.

As an FYI, I did just get my statement - and there were NO double points on it. I thought maybe I read something wrong.

I called Bank One and they said that ALL the double points will be awarded at the very end. So, after June 30th, the points will show up on your statement.

It's a great deal. My cruise balance hits in June - $2,500.00 - that's another $50.00!!

Thanks for letting us know that! I just got my statement and 'thought' it looked like it wasn't as many as I expected, but hadn't had the time to research it yet. Now I understand why it was smaller than I thought.

It will be nice to have those 'extra' dollars on the cruise!

Pulled out the notice I got earlier in March about this offer and here it is:

Double Disney Dream Reward Dollars from march 15 - June 30, 2004.
Earn 2% in DDRD for every $1 you spend over $350 each month from 3/15 to 6/30/04. Earn 1% in DDRD for every dollar you spend up to $350

This means you get 1 DDRD for every $100 you spend up to $350.
You get 2 DDRD for every $100 you spend beyond $350. For example, if in april you spent $300 on your visa, you get 3 DDRD. If you spent $400, you get 8 DDRD. I think that make adjustments if you return an item and get a credit, but not if you make a payment. I put a bunch of things on my card in March and got double, but won't for April.

My notice says 1% up to $150 and 2% for over $150 each month.

From how I see it though, you won't get 8 reward points for $400, as your only get 1% on the first $150 so you will get 4 points at the billing cycle and then 2-3 bonus reward points with the promotion depending on how they calculate.

Not sure if we will know until someone actually gets thier bonus reward points though. I would like it to be 2% of everything, would mean and extra 40-50 reward dollars for our upcoming trip if they posted to the account in time

Nope, some of us got no offer at all!

My offer has no minimum to spend before getting the double points. And, one of the offers on the Viksa website is the double points, so I believe everyone gets the double, they may just not have received a mailing.

My offer has no spending minimum but the double points are only for groceries, utilities, insurance, gasoline and a few other categories.

I'm sure VISA has a way to track who got what offer and if you didn't get one with your bill, you can always call to see if you're eligible for one. Not everyone got an offer and those that did get a double-points offer did not get the same thing.

Diamond_girls, where did you see the offer on the website? If I log in and look under current offers, my "Double the Magic" offer only specifies the groceries/gasoline offer.

Bank One/Disney Visa selectively made this offer, and the particular offer designed for you is what appears on the website when you log in. I did not receive the offer, so nothing appears under "Current Offers" on my Disney Visa page. I called Bank One and was told I would not be receiving the mailing or offer, I suppose because I was already spending quite a bit on the card (had a large Disney trip in December) and pay it off every month. Am now using American Express exclusively until Bank One wants to include me in their next good deal.... the Amex rewards are pretty nice, too.

Nope, it's not listed under my current offers, only the lucky ones. And I just charged a cruise for 5 people on mine! Wish I had those double points.

This offer was not extended to me either, and when I questioned I was told I would not be gettign it. I spend thousands per month and pay the balance off each month as well. I will be using a different card form now on, since they don't feel like my loyalty is important.
