My children have received Disney Dollars for Christmas this year. I was just wondering if they can be used on the cruise. (in the gift shop etc. Thank You for your help.

the ships are 100% cashless - everything is charged to your stateroom key (Key To The World card) - your kids could apply their Disney dollars to your account at Guest Relations, but cannot use them for purchases in the ship's shops or on Castaway Cay.

We always put DD's on our account. This year I put $1240.00 (all in tens) down, the CM asked if I print them out.. Nope I just go to the Disney store each week after I get paid and buy some. It works out perfect. Our shipboard account is always well over $1000.00. I would spend the cash if I socked that away so instead I buy what I can't spend and then spend all I want on the trip!

I too have a stash of DisD's.

This year I took $100 for DD to buy her arcade cards. She took them to GS and bought her cards. Then, someone in the arcade also showed her how to use her KTTW to buy games. I told her she couldn't do that anymore...thats what the DisD's were for!!

So, now she owes me all her Christmas money.....lol

:sunny: That is such a doog idea with DD. You are so right if you have the cash  you will spend it. I think I will start buying DD for are August 2004 Cruise.

Thanks

Ann, That is such a good idea about going to the Disney Store to buy Disney $'s. Our shipboard account wasn't too high for our 3 night cruise, but we are sailing on a 7 night in May 2005. It will be bigger then. Thanks for the idea. :wave2:

P.S. Love the picture. What a cute dog.

I like your idea Ann! I now have grandparents trained to purchase DD for the kids on holidays. We don't give our kids $$ for souvies, they have to save their own, so the DD come in handy. DS6 has slowly built a monorail system with his DD. He started with the basic package and adds every trip. They sure appreicate the souvies more and are funny as they look at prices of things!!!::yes::

Dh's and my anniversary is in June and we always cruise in December, I could not think of anything to give him so I thought why not a surprise for the cruise? I only get paid around $100.00 a week as a part time teacher but I started socking it away in DD's in Feb. by June I had the 1240.00. On our anniversary I laid out bill by bill (they were all in tens) around the house and he had to collect them and add them up. He could not beleive I had saved so much money. It made our cruise so much more stress free as all of our extras were paid for. It was a great gift for him as he always pays for everything. I plan on starting my savings plan again once I am back to school in a week. Maybe I can beat last years record. It was great, the champagne, the dolphins, everything was on ME for once!!:Pinkbounc
(thanks about Chelsea, she is such a love bug, Westies are wondeful dogs!)
