Disney Dollars and tipping?

I'm sure I've read that Disney dollars can be used at restaurants - but what about the tip? I suppose I would pay the tip portion in cash, just wondered if anyone has done this?
 
We went in October and tipped with Disney Dollars. We were told that the CM's trade their disney dollars in for cash at the end of the night.
