disney dollars and restaurants

My DH was given Disney Dollars as a gift and wants to know if they can be used in restaurants on the property?

Does anyone know.

Yes they can be used in most restaurants. I'm not sure about the non Disney restaurants, such as Shulas, and places like that, but in general at the Disney Resorts & parks, they can be used as cash.

Can they be used as a tip? I would only do this if the wait staff were able to cash them in right there for cash for themselves. If they had to go to a lot of work to cash them out I wouldn't want to leave them as a tip. We are on the free dining plan but wanted to give a little extra if the service was great.

We were able to use our disney dollars at Ghirdelli's in DTD also. I was told that you can use disney dollars anywhere in Disney Parks just like cash,and we also used them in a few resort restaurants. We bought the gift card for this trip and were told we could use it at HOB,Fultons and Planet Hollywood.
