I began planning our March trip about 8 months ago and I saved, budgeted, planned, plotted and read everything I could find. The best advice I read was to give the kids Disney Dollars for allowance, good report cards, birthday etc. Every Thanksgiving after we have all stuffed ourselves and the menfolk have gathered in the livingroom to watch football, we women discuss what everyone wants or needs, sizes etc. This year I told everyone to take whatever it is that they normally spend, split it in half and get the boys (12 and 4) a smaller gift and the balance in Disney Dollars. Everyone followed through with the plan especially my uncle who surprised us all with his gift. I unwrapped the present to see a large Lilo and Stich box. Upon opening the box I found a Mickey Mouse holding a frame in his hand and in the frame was 3 envelopes containing $150 in Disney Dollars. All told the total was $340.00!!!! The kids were so excited and we were too!!!! It's fun that we 4 are the ones going but yet our whole family (14) is just as excited as we are and all loved shopping in the Disney Store!!!!:D

Wow!!

That was so nice of your Uncle!!! I wish i had one of him.:smooth: Can I borrow him. lol

DH sorta of did the same thing. He put cash and a picture of the kids at wdw, we were just there for Thanksgiving, in a box and when I opened it I wondered what it was. He said "HAVE A NICE TRIP" We'll be going down in August so wasn't sure what he was talking about but said it's for me and the kids to go down again anytime before that. WOW:Pinkbounc
He's not sure if he can make it but will try.

So now I get to plan another trip which I think will be over memorial day weekend.

That's so great. My family did this for us last year. Grandma didn't know what Disney Dollars were and didn't feel like looking so she gave the kids cash. My dad bought our park hoppers:bounce: and the kids adopted grandparents gave DH and I $200 and my grandparents gave the kids $25 and us $50.

It was so much fun and the family knew how much I had wanted that trip. My SIL gave us phone cards so we would call and give updates as the rest of the family was at MIL's.

Oh Cool, I just noticed my new tags. Thank you Tag Faries.:bounce:

What great gifts! Now it sounds like your kids are set to buy any souvenier their heart desires! We received $100 in cash for our kids, and I am going to the mall to trade in for Disney Dollars. :D So, we're up to about $175 in DD's for the kids....I hope to get about $250 by the time we go; luckily our kids are still pretty small and are easily placated.

My favorite Christmas gift-----my husband got me a framed piece of Disney Stock! Wow! I'm a shareholder! :p

Seems to be alot of *Disney Christmas's* this year! (not us this time though....as we just returned....)

But we have 2 friends whose families BOTH did similar Disney themes! I think it's such a GREAT idea. I think that I'm ready to create my *wish list* for NEXT Christmas!!!!!

Yep, another Disney Christmas here....alas, no $$$.

DH got me a digital camera, and it is really cool.

I got us FRS walkie talkies, and I framed a limited edition "Emperor's New Groove" print for him, so we're all set for the next trip...
