Disney discriminates against Brits

I've booked separate flights and accomodation for my trip to Florida. I've been looking to book for Wilderness Lodge on the internet for 3 nights.

I checked out Disney's UK page and discovered that they will not allow bookings for less than 4 nights. However on checking the US site noted that they will allow bookings for any number of nights.

I then checked out Expedia.com and discovered some fantastic discounted rates for all the Disney hotels - much better than the rack rates.

However, on checking out Expedia.co.uk you cannot book Disney hotels on that site.

Similarly with passes - in the UK you cannot get a 4 day park hopper plus pass. However, in the US and from US sites you can.

Seems to me that Disney take the view that if you're travelling 9 hours to get there then they don't want you staying a short time at Disney before moving on, you must stay longer.

My advice, make sure you check the US sites before you book. Don't allow yourself to be screwed by Disney simply because you're a Brit:mad:

It does seem strange that different countries get different deals.

Why don't we get FITS tickets in the UK?

Why don't the American's get the 10 Day World Pass?

I do think that if Disney offered a discount for a 14 x day pass in the UK then they would gwt a lot more business (IMHO)

Tell me about it! The expedia.com thing really bugs me. There are often some excellent deals on the site, but they will not accept bookings from international customers....and like you said, expedia.co.uk don't have the WDW resorts! - Why???!

Plus, the Disney Credit Card - I wish we could receive that over here too!

WDW will allow you to make a reservation for 3 nights. You can either book at www.disneyworld.com (they accept international customers) or call CRO (Central Reservations Orlando).

You can make reservations directly with Disney for any number of nights - we spent one night at the Grand Floridian during our recent stay. You can also purchase the 4 day pass (or any other pass available to the US market, with the exception of the Florida Resident) directly from Disney.

The 10 Day World Pass is aimed at the UK market. You won't find many Americans staying at WDW for an extended period - they don't get anywhere near the number of days off that we do.

You can make hotel bookings at Expedia.com

Yep, my best friends' partner lives in the States and she always using american web sites to book hotels, flights etc for when they go travelling - usually 4/5 times a year, including expedia.com.

She even books all trans-atlantic flights on the american equivalent sites as she finds it cheaper - especially virgin and ba.

I'm pretty sure that you can't book flights with Expedia.com if you're not using a US credit card.

Re the 4 day hopper pass - we phoned Disney in the US last year to get ours & they mailed them to us, no problem at all. Of course, this might have changed by now.

Out of interest, I just checked Expedia.com for my dates and, although they all say <font color=red>Expedia Special Rate</font>, they are in actual fact the rack rates!

wilkolo, many of us here book DIY and your best bet for finding the best deals is to hang around here and ask questions. For all the up to date discounts, check out www.mousesavers.com

for my dates, i got Disney - $849
expedia - $514

3 nights Wilderness Lodge courtyard view

When are you travelling Wilkolo? When Disney are offering a discount code you book it a different way through the WDW website otherwise it'll just show the rack rates by default.

Penny,
Is there a way that you can put codes in on the WDW website? I always thought that you had to call CRO to apply codes... It will be great news if you can book using codes on the website!

thankyou

You can't apply a code via the website if you already have something booked at rack rate, but they have a (usually very small!) link to 'current special offers' (or something like that) which automatically gives you quotes with the discount included.

It's typical Disney marketing - the discounts are there, but unless you know they are there in the first place and therefore look for them specifically then they are usually pretty well camoflagued! (sp?)

i always book directly with disney (central reservations)....
i like dealing with a living, breathing human being...
they're usually very helpful.....
as for tickets, i'm much farther away than the UK and don't seem to have access to any sorts of special ticket deals..
so we always end up buying premium annual passes....with the number of days we stay, and the additional benefits, it's worthwhile...
the weirdest thing that happened this year, when we arrived at the wilderness lodge, we added on a room....they gave it to us at a truly spectacular AP rate....better than i'd been quoted on the phone....i always thought the in person, same day rate was higher....but i certainly didn't say a word....
