Hi. Never done Hoop de Doo so can't comment. After three failed attempts finally got to Spirit of Aloha about 5 years ago. My DH had been sooo looking forward to it for some reason. Food was not great. Noise was horrible. Service was dreadful. Entertainment was not for me. Random and not shown related but we also ended up sharing a table with a couple and extended family where the couple were breaking up forever (in front of their about 6 year old) in real time. Really ugly night. Will never return! We took the kids to Mickey's Back Yard BBQ when they were 8 (DS) and 5 (DD). We arrived early to get seats next to the 'stage' and managed this with the kids also been chosen to open the event. Not a big deal they were given triangles to chime but trust me exciting for them! What then proceeded was one of the best nights of DDs life. She stalked the dance floor till Minnie Mouse arrived, danced holding her hand for ages and beamed for 3 hours. The food was okay. BBQ, nothing special but nothing wrong with it. The alcohol was included and that was good.... So for us, that particular experience was one of our best WDW nights ever. DD is now 14 and still remembers it very fondly. So my vote, for a very special memory night, would be the Backyard BBQ. My DD has spent all her holiday money on a Minnie Mouse dress and shoes and the photos of her and the 'real' Minnie dancing together are lovely
