180 days for ADRS!!!!!

I definitely get what you're saying as far as people being able to book ADRs without a ressie.
My question is just that since they will be directly tied to my ressie number if I book that way, would they automatically go "poof" when that ressie disappears?
I am just trying to think of the most logical way to go about all of it keeping in mind that if I were to book in February, I would have to rebook in April, thus bringing in the new ressie number and voiding out the old one (you can't just add Free Dining). I hope that makes sense, LOL. :upsidedow

It has been my experience that reservation numbers don't change when you apply a code (or drop people from your reservation, or change dates, or change resorts... Yeah, I've made a few changes to our upcoming trip. :rolleyes1 ). So even if they did start canceling ADRs if they're linked to an invalid reservation number, you still wouldn't have anything to worry about.

Oh, OK. When we did it, it had to be a new reservation to add Free Dining, you couldn't just add it on.

I have a question (and please, forgive me if it's already been asked :flower3:) ~ if we book the ADRs at 180 days using our reservation number but then switch our reservation at some point, do all of our ADRs get cancelled out?

My reasoning behind this is that we want to go next August and are hoping for a repeat of Free Dining. Ideally, I would like to wait to book the trip until April when the dates are released (although I can guess at them well enough).
Obviously, that puts me well past my 180 day window in February but even if we booked in February to secure our ADRs, the reservation number would change when I called to get Free Dining in April so I worry that we would risk losing all of our ADRs anyway.

I really do love the 180 window overall, but in this instance I'm not sure it's going to help me.

Anyone else thinking about this in regards to Free Dining? :cutie:
I Carried a Watermelon - I LOVE IT - missed that on my reply:cool1:

The only reason you should have to cancel an existing reservation to add the free dining code, or any discount code for that matter, would be if you had a room only reservation or there was no availability left at any of the on-site WDW resorts.

We have always been able to add a discount code to an existing reservation with no problem.

I can especially see this in relation to free dining. The plan offered 8/16 to 10/3 offered the regular dining plan for all resorts. The plan offered for the oct to dec extension only included quick service for the values. I can see many people deciding to change to another resort when the details come out.

That said though, if you book at the same time and just change resorts, I think you might very keep the same reservation number, making it a moot point.

Yep, we had started off with no Dining Plan until they released Free Dining so that would explain that (back in 2006).
Looks like I should have no problem using the 180 day window then (YAY!), thanks for the replies. :thumbsup2

We are booked for President's Week, and our 90 days out would have been in the middle of Novemeber. But now that they are changing it back to the 180 days, I can start making ADRs on October 27th. I am happy they are changing it back, because I like to plan everything early, and I am always so excited I can't wait to make the ADRs.

I am getting nervous now because October 27th is going to be a crazy day t make ADRs since it will now be open to soooooo many of us. The phones are probably going to be nuts, and I have a feeling the online system is going to be hard to get on that day. I guess my best bet would be the phones.

What does everyone else plan on doing?

On a side note, I have read that so many people are being charged upfront for CRT and Hoop Dee when making reservation online when on the DDP, is that happening on the phone also? Last year they asked for my CC but just to hold it, not to charge it. What is the deal now?

Thanks to all.

Don't know if this is already out or not but I just read on another site that effective October 27, 2009, you will again be able to make Disney dining reservations 180 days in advance.

This should make some people very happy!:banana:

Just seen post on AllEars that the 180 ADR'S are coming back in October. Boy am I glad this will be a big help to those of us who stay on site. If all goes well for me I'll be able to use this next year now that I've been called back to work. YIPPI :banana::banana::banana:

Most of the ADR's are 90 days right??? What places would be an exception?? Which places are 180 days???:confused I should know this!!! I am having a brain freeze?!?!?!?!? Please don't tell me to search the boards, I did that already, And without spending hours , I 'm sure a nice disser will give me the answer!!!! I don't mean to sound fresh, but it seams like when ever I post a question lately, someone tells me to search the board....DUH!!! I am looking for a quick answer from a friendly disser:lovestruc

It will depend on when your 90 day ADR date is. If it's before October 27 you'll make your ADRs at 90 days.

Otherwise you will fall into the October 27 mess, which means you're calling with the rest of the world who will be calling in that day. There is more info in the first post of this thread about the new 180 days starting on October 27.

Thanks!! My 90 days is October 17, Thank God!! Sorry I meant to post this as a new question, not hijack someone else's post!!!

It was moved into the existing thread. We're trying to keep all of the 180 day news and excitement in one place for the time being. :goodvibes
