Im not sure of this is the proper place to post this question, but I am wondering if people staying at DVC resorts through an RCI exchange week ate eligible for the Disney Dining Plan. If so, are rules the same as DVC-has to be paid upon booking, has to be reserved atleast 48 hours prior to check-in, dining plan has to be purchased for entire trip equal to amount of nights of stay-are all those still correct for 2014 and is there anything I am missing or don't know about? Thanks in advance!

Yes, those are all correct. You arrange for the dining plan with Members' Services. The number to call will be in the info you receive from RCI.

Once you have the actual DVC reservation number (not the same as the RCI number), you can link the DVC reservation reservation number to your MDE account, make ADRs and when the window opens, make FP+ reservations and customize/order Magic Bands.

We've done this many times but we often have multiple rooms making the DP a better value by getting for some and not for others. One must reserve for 7 nights of DP and for every person who will be there during the week. Same price as DVC members where there's a difference.

Do you mean half the family pays for the dining plan and the other half does not? Can you share at TS or do they check how many are in the specific room with the plan. That could work for us if we stayed in 2 studios..hmmm

legally you can't share meals across those who are on the plan and those who are not but what we do is group those where the DP is advantageous vs those where it is not. Then we pay OOP for the meals for those not on the DP.

No, this is not permitted under the dining plan. As Dean explained, it is more a case of putting those that want a Dining Plan in the same room, and those that do not want a dining plan into another room. For instance, I have a large group of 22 people going down next year, spread out over 4 rooms. The people that want the dining plan will be placed in a single room, the rest of us are paying out of pocket.

Is it possible to purchase the Dining Plan for only part of the week with a RCI rental this year? I know it has not been with DVC in the past-just figured it was worth asking. We usually do a split stay with DVC points and add the Dining Plan for only the first part of the trip. We do all the big meals and character dining and by then we are so stuffed that we just pay OOP for the second leg of the trip. But with the full week RCI rental that won't be an option unless Disney lets us split it up so I am trying to decide cost wise what would make the most sense.

No. It's everyone in the room for all nights of the reservation or no plan.

now if you book your stay in advance and they end up having the dining plan as a special and it's included with your stay, can you take advantage of that?

(we went in 2013, booked our stay in Mar, then in June or July they offered "free" dining plan for our stay in Sept. and we were able to take advantage of that.)

Not with a points stay. "Free Dining" requires a package that includes a non-discounted room rate and tickets.
