Disney Dining Plan while at FW

We're considering the Dining Plan for our trip over T'giving. If we do it, it would be the first time in well over a dozen trips that we did. The rationale is that rather than cooking in the camper, we might try some of the WDW restaurants, including a couple pricy restaurants and a few of the "holiday surcharged" buffets, so the DDP would make sense. My hesitation is that we always spend a few days in the campground and there don't appear to be any counter service options at FW. Is there any way to get a counter service meal at the Fort, or do you have to leave the campground? If there's no CS, that will probably tip the balance for us, and we'll just visit the first couple WDW restaurant restaurants on our list and cook in the camper again.

no counter service there but you could easily dash over to the value resorts for CS...they have a great variety...and its fun looking at their fun things all over the resorts...we did this last time and had a blast making pics with the supersized Figures around the area

We have done it a few times and have had mixed results. If it is not so busy it’s great. If the park are full and you have to reserve every meal I felt al we where doing was going from restaurant to restaurant. Don’t get me wrong to food it very good. For $ you cant beat it.

We did the dining plan from FW for a few days, and then had the rest of our reservation at FW without it. We thought that was great...we tried many restaurants we'd never been to before, but quit the dining plan before it got to be too much for us (keeping all those reservation times and the quantity of food...yikes!)

We did counter service at the Wilderness Lodge and the Contemporary...that worked out well for us, plus it's fun to see the other resorts!
