Disney Dining Plan Question

I have a last minute trip coming up in about a week. I am considering the Disney Dining Plan for an overnight stay, but am not sure if it would be worth it or not. I know it can be split between the two days, which could be advantageous if planned correctly(especially since I am also a Landry's Select Member and will be using my birthday reward at Yak & Yeti to save money). While I do certainly tend to enjoy the more expensive menu options at table service restaurants, dessert isn't something I can do, due to diabetes, and I am pretty sure the snack credit would be of little value at Food & Wine due to being a single snack credit. I am on the fence about getting the plan given that it would basically be a single day's credits. Do you think it would be worthwhile in my situation, or would I be better off putting my full budget on a gift card.

The easiest way to tell if the plan will work to your advantage is to price out what and where you want to eat.
I will say if you are not a snack eater, and are adverse to eating powdered eggs at breakfast, it might not work financially for you.

I had a one night stay at All Stars before switching to AKL for 6 nights in May so I got the DP for my All Stars stay. The first day I went to Polite Pig and got the ribs plus a sangria. Next day, snack credit at Japan F&G for noodle salad ($8.50) and then Boma w cocktail for dinner. Then I used my mug for the entire week. The retail price was more than the dp for one night. But if you aren’t getting the alcoholic drink for both TS and QS then it’s probably better to go out of pocket

QS doesn't include alcohol.
  • 2 Quick-Service Meals Per Night of Stay*
  • 1 Snack or Nonalcoholic Beverage Per Night of Stay*
  • 1 Resort-Refillable Mug**
All unused meals and snacks and the ability to use your refillable mug expire at midnight on your package reservation checkout date.

You have to get the DDP in advance of your trip and I believe it is 48 hours but I would certainly double check that. Using a one night DDP over two days can potentially be a cost saver. Enjoy your trip!

Actually allergic to eggs so I don’t really eat breakfast much. I do eat snacks but the question comes down to it basically being a total of two meals, one snack, and the mug.

Before check-in anyway. Planned to book the do next week by midweek. My trip is just over a week away, but have been thinking I would stay on property one night for the ddp and to ease transportation logistics(I know the ME is no longer around, but am thinking the substitute options would be better to get to or from the airport.

So if two meals, one snack and the mug( I’d factor two drinks into the overall price but you do you 🙂) is more OR less than the cost of the DP you know what to do 👍🏾

I’m looking at mostly off property(DS if I can afford, but worst case I leave two hours early to make rope drop by city bus), but planned to do one night on, for a few reasons.

I would point out that the QS plan does include the option to substitute an alcoholic beverage for those over 21, with meals only, same as with the standard plan. Found that in my research.

QS does include alcohol.

But for the OP, I'm not sure if it sounds worth it for you. Especially if you can't eat dessert and that's one of the things you get with your TS credits.

We don't drink alcohol so it doesn't matter too much for us, but that is surprising!

With the diabetes and limited snack use, going with a gift card might give you more flexibility than the dining plan.
