Disney Dining Plan problems

We stayed at POR Apr 24-30. On our last night, we went to Boatwrights for dinner. We were supposed to go to 1900 Park Fare, but were tired and leaving the next day so cancelled and decided to stay at our hotel out of convenience and hoping it would be a quick dinner. Well, it backfired.

This dinner was not a good experience at all! The server sang to my daughter for her birthday with my name, but it was my birthday. We went with it. The server mixed things up the entire dinner and was sooo slow. All in all, we were there two hours for dinner. Not fun at all!

But my main issue is this: We went to pay and they ran our dining plan. We were supposed to have 3 adult TS credits and 2 Child TS credits. For some reason, the credits were very messed up. This took forever to resolve and never did get resolved to our liking!

I went to the registration desk and we found out that we had been wrongly charged a TS at POFQ when we got CS. So the CM at registration figured it out and credited our account so that we had another TS left. He assured me it would work, they would run it and all would be fine. Went back to the table, waited for 15 minutes. DH and I both had to ask for our server to come out. She finally came out with a manager or hostess, something like that and they had run it for 60, should have been just 20 for a tip. They said we would have to get the credit at registration. We went straight to registration and the same CM I spoke with earlier said that we had no balance. Nothing had been put through. I had just paid our balance and the balance was still $0. I was skeptical. Sure enough, as we were leaving the next morning, I checked out account and an automated 'debit' had gone through for 60 from Boatwrights. Called front desk, the CM credited our acount for $40 and I told him I would be there right away. We went straight to registration before we left and got the receipt. Well, the $60 is out of our account and no $40 credit in sight. What should I do about this? I know they said the credit could take up to 10 days. Of course it can, why not! As you can probably tell, this really makes me unhappy. I know it's only $40, but the principal of being totally screwed around on the dining plan just really irks me. We did the dining plan in '08 and had nowhere near the problems we had this this trip! Any thoughts/suggestions/reassurance? Thanks! I appreciate it! Needless to say, I really don't think we will do the dining plan again, too much work and not really worth it.

Sorry they did not actually resolve this for you while you were there. Now, I would be calling Guest relations and/or putting a complaint in writing

Sorry it happened and sounds very frustrating.

A very good reminder to everyone - CHECK YOUR RECEIPTS to make sure the proper credits were deducted after every meal and snack purchase. It is much easier to resolve right at the time than afterward and mistakes are made. You should know - we have 24 CS credits remaining...and then after we go to a CS meal - should now show 20 CS remaining....and so on. The receipts show it - just be sure to be checking.

Sometimes refunds can take awhile to show. 10-14 business days is actually not that rare depending on the bank. They have done what they can do on Disney's end and they warned you that the credit could take a bit (once Disney puts the credit through, you are waiting on your bank). I don't see how anything else could/should be done.

Give it the 2 weeks and see if the credit shows. If not, then contact guest relations.

Eeesh...what a frustrating meal. It's been my experience that refunds to debit cards take a few days. Maybe check with the bank to see if there's something pending and if they can tell you when it will be available.

Was this a free DDP offer or did you actually pay for the dining plan? The reason I ask is we had trouble both times we gotten the free DDP. But 2 other times we paid for the plan and had no trouble at all. Seems like a coincidence. We are going in Oct and Paying again, but I was veryt much up in the air about it.

Free dining or paid dining makes no difference, the dining plans are all coded on your card the same. The FD is a discounted package through the Disney Travel Company. The restaurant can't tell by running your card what package or promotion you have, they just know what dining plan you have whether you paid for it or not.

Seems to me the OP just had bad luck that happened by coincidence, not that it was caused by FD. Most of the plan screw-ups seem to be the fault of certain restaurants or CM's there that are not properly trained. Can happen anywhere.

Sorry you had problems.

Honestly, I think problem can easily happen no matter how you pay- people make mistakes and sometimes they are not instantly fixed. We went to Hooters about 2 months ago- waitress brought our bill and it was right, I gave her my card and she brought back a charge slip for me to sign that was much less then my original bill, I stupidly tried to do the right thing :confused3 and told her that she had made a mistake and owed her more money. She did not seem overly grateful that I just saved her but and she went to track down a manager.

They told us they were going to reverse the charge and then rerun the right amount-nothing special for wasting our time to help them fix their mistake

Well add insult to injury and they never did run the reversal and we got both bill taken out of my checking account even after I had tipped the stupid waitress that messed everything up. It took a week to get my money back :headache:

This was just using a credit card so I imagine that the ddp is another way for people to mess up.

We had it happen at Disney- conceirge removed 2 meal credits for our infant for HDDR. We went in to fix it and they gave us 2 extra credits for the trouble :thumbsup2 and resolved it immediately, We had problems with our meal at LTT and they reversed all credit use for the meal to make it right. Overall I have seen Disney do a better job then most at paying for the mistakes of their employees.

Just to update: I did get the credit on our account, which obviously made me happy. :goodvibes

I liked the food that we had in Disney for the most part, not a huge fan of Boatwrights, but all of the other food that we had was very good.

If we go again in the future, I think we will consider not doing the dining plan. I just felt like we wasted a huge amount of food and we are pretty big eaters (except for DS, 8 and DD, 5). I felt really guilty wasting all of the food this visit.
