We are going in June for 8 nights. Our first night we will arrive late, but would still have to purchase the dining plan for it anyway (as per the rules).

I have been looking at some restaurants that we usually go to to get an idea if it is worth it for us. (I would definately have to plan more, and make ressies), but if it is worth it, then I think it is a good idea.

My question: If we go to a restaurant and the kids meal does not have a dessert, do my children get to choose a dessert off the regular menu?

Same question for counter service. Also, do you have to get your dessert from the same counter service restaurant? Say they don't like the cake at one restaurant, can they get an icecream or cookie from another?

Here is a sample of 2 days of planning (with an average of costs per menu items we would order). Let me know if is correct. I also added 6% tax (which I think is correct).

Cost of plan per day ($97.96) $37.99 x 2 + $10.99 x 2

Teppanaki: DINNER
ADULT App. $8.00 Entree: $28.00 Drink: $3.50 Dessert: $4.00 Total $43.50
CHILD Entree: $12.00 Drink: $2.00 (includes dessert) Total $14.00
$43. 50 + $43.50 + $14.00 + $14.00 = $120.90 + Tax $7.25 + Tip (18%) $21.76 = $149.91

LUNCH/DINNER (Counter Service) ELECTRIC UMBRELLA
ADULT: Entree: $7.00 Drink: $2.50 Dessert: $3.00 Total $12.50 + Tax .75 = $13.25
CHILD: Child Meal: $3.99 Dessert: $1.50 Total $5.49 +.32 = $5.81
$13.25 + $13.25 + 5.81 + 5.81 = $38.12

1 snack, such as a frozen ice cream bar, box of popcorn, 20 oz bottle of Coke, Diet Coke, Sprite, Dasani water or a medium fountain soft drink at select snack cart locations
$3.00 x 4= $12.00

Total for the day in food: $200.03

DAY 2

LIBERTY TREE - LUNCH (not character) (regular menu)
ADULT App. $5.00 Entree: $14.00 Drink: $3.00 Dessert: $5.00 Total $27.00
CHILD Entree: $7.00 Drink: $2.00 Total $9.00
$27.00 + $27.00 + $9.00 + $9.00 + $4.32 Tax = $76.32 + (18%) 12.96 tip = $89.28

Cosmic Ray's - LUNCH/DINNER (Counter Service)
ADULT: Entree: $13.89/$7.00 Drink: $2.50 Dessert: $2.20 Total $18.59 + Tax $1.11 = $19.70 ( Adult meal #2 - $11.70 + .70 tax = $12.40)
CHILD: Child Meal: $3.99 Dessert: $2.20 Total $6.20 +.37 = $6.57
$19.70 + $12.40 + 6.57+ 6.57 = $45.24

1 snack, such as a frozen ice cream bar, box of popcorn, 20 oz bottle of Coke, Diet Coke, Sprite, Dasani water or a medium fountain soft drink at select snack cart locations
$3.00 x 4= $12.00

Total for the day in food: $146.52

Thanks,
Margaret

1. You can use this extra night for a signature dining experience which takes 2 TS credits. ie., Castle, Hoop DeDoo etc.
2. Yes they can ge a desert off the menu
3. No the full meal must be purchased at the same time at the same place. Many of the CS's offered a fruit bowl as well and we got this for DGD (4) much of the time as she would rather have fruit than cake. :sunny: Now us on the other hand got the deserts, cheese cake, choc cake etc.

RE: children's dessert. This varies restaurant to restaurant. At the Coral Reef, we were told to order an appetizer and dessert from the regular menu for the 2 children on our plan. At Alfredo's there was no appetizer for the children and they were only offered one dessert (chocolate mousse).

At counter service restaurants, we always just ordered from the regular menu, never ordered a child's meal. We had to keep reminding ourselves to get the dessert at counter service!

We have the planned meal deal and I just thought that you had to go to certain restaurants that do this but, not worry about how much you spent on the meals??? :confused3 I am going to have to have a lot more info on all this if there are major restrictions and it will make for LOTS more planning (but that will be alright). I just know how my family is and will not really be in the "mood" for certain foods if I have to make ressies so far ahead for all of this???

Please help a newbie that is trying so hard to get this vacation planned out and surprise our soon to be 9 year old daughter with some character dinners/breakfasts.

I tossed up the idea of the Princess tea at the GF but, have decided that she might not like that being of the older age of the kids that go. I will probably kick myself later. :lmao:

I am asking for help if anyone can help me. This is our first WDW vacation on the property and flying and everything. We can't wait!! We leave June 5-June 12!! :cheer2:  :Pinkbounc

Thanks
Heather
