I know that we never know what Disney will offer, but does anyone know if they have offered a free dining plan in January in the past. I was just sent a letter saying that they are offering for a lot of dates through December of this year.

We are debating staying at a villa (renting someone else's points) or if we should stay at a moderate (through Disney). The worry is if we take the gamble of missing out on free dining plan.

They did not offer free dining in January of this year. They offered a choice of either a room discount or the Stay, Play and Dine plan, which basically meant that you paid child's prices for the dining plan and park tickets. For some people that was a great discount. But it wasn't free dining.

You can check out historic discounts on mousesavers.com.

Or you can subscribe to a thread that will post the different months and info that comes out for that month, on the discount codes and rates board at the top of this forum.

They have done free dining typically in January, however, as one poster noted, this year they did not. Disney tried a different discount. It is intersting to note that they did not use the new discount in September but did the free dining.

It all depends on if the new discount plan was successful. :confused3 If enough people took advantage of the offer they will do it again. If it was not successful, they may return to free dining. I wouldn't go in January for the other offer, I have gone in the past for free dining. I'm hoping the free dining in September is a sign they are going back to free dining instead of the other discounts.

You won't know until it is announced. No discounts are guaranteed until you have an actual reservation.

Thank you for all of the great feedback. I am going to try mousesavers.com for the historical discounts. I did not know it could be found.

Probably not going to have discount this January either, they tried something different this past year....We were also interested to see if they would off it next yrear also..
