Disney dining mistake

How is it a no show charge if they take you 10 hours early?

1) Because, you missed the ressie.
2) Sure, some eateries will not charge you.
3) But, per policy, the restaurant manager can still charge you for not showing at the ADR time.
. . . these decisions are made a the end of the day by the eatery manager
. . . the SEATER (podium person) can make a note you were early
. . . there is an actual "on hold" key for the ADR, the SEATER clicks this if they are waiting for you
. . . it is unclicked if you show
. . . but, without the computer note, you are listed as a no-show
. . . the SEATER making noting the no-show could not have known you appeared early
4) Confusing?
5) Yep.

Rusty gave you all the ins and outs but the bottom line is that your time is your time. If you choose to ignore your ADR and show up early, you are now a no show. This does nto mean the fee will be imposed, but you should be aware that you run the risk.

Ok got ya. So if they made sure they marked you in, it would be OK.
This good to know. I would have probably gone the morning of the ADR and told them the mistake and seen if they can seat me. I didn't know it would risk being a no show later. But I imagine the whole thing can be cleared up later, just with more work than necessary.

By the way, just when think I knew a ton about how Disney works, people low me away with the ins and outs knowledge!!

Definitely keep trying. I checked the websites everyday for 2 weeks in hopes of snagging a 6:15 ADR at HDDR for a specific night and i got one.

So Disney won't try and change the reservation for their error

While it may be their error, there are unfortunately plenty of people who just think rules are for everyone else but them. I am sure there are people that do this on purpose, when their AM resv's aren't available and call back blaming the CM (I am not saying this is what OP did at all).

On our last trip I was amazed at people who ignored FP rules, or pleaded ignorance. I know they were attempting to scam because I could hear them discussing it while on line. Showing up 12 hours early is just another example of rudeness and scamming. It does impact everyone who is behind you delaying their seating. To go through CM, supervisors would be the appropriate way to proceed. To me there is a difference between getting an exception and just making your own exception.
