you can read more about it on deb wills site, but in a nutshell its a discount dining card that annual passholders can buy (I think its $60). It gives you 20% off meals at many restaurants around wdw (including alcohol). the list of participating restaurants is pretty long, but I think its mostly sit-down. for us it makes more sense than the ddp, and since I got a great ap rate for our room, I was able to get the ap (and thus the dde).
It was $50 for AP holders a year ago but read it is now $60.00. Well worth it though. We saved about $300 with the card and it is good for a year. So if you get an AP and the DDE card and just make sure your trip on the following year is a lightly before your last trip which will make it fall in the same year you can save a ton of money.

Yes! We saved a crazy amount of money on our last trip. Probably about $300 or so as well. I added up with the savings by doing the HDDR. We are definitely glad we have this! We are getting 3 trips out of it this year. Well worth the $60!
grumpyharn: you do NOT have to be a florida resident or AP holder to get this card--if you are in either category, you get a discount is all. We used this over the summer and save GOBS of money I would definitely advice checking further--the 20% really adds up. The DDE is now a standard piece of my annual planning and the AP gets you additional discounts and room rates even if you don't go every year.
you do have to be an ap holder (or at least have the voucher) in order to have the DDE. I couldn't even order the DDE until I had the AP voucher in hand

We did the same and did 3 trips though that was way out of the norm for us. We go every January but did a last minute 4 night August trip. By doing the AP we saved alone on the first trip off of what regular room price + passes would have cost us. The other 2 trips the pass prices were zero and we saved on the hotel price on those trips as well. We saved tons of cash, add in the DDE card and we saved about $800 with that card over the 3 trips.
This year as of yet there is no AP rate listed for when we are going so we are a little concerned that we won't get a discount but regardless we will save as the next trip we won't need passes.
