We're at the World now and having a blast but I've noticed something a bit strange about the use of our DDE card. In the past, I've used the card at all types of places (lounges, restaurants, etc.) and never had any issues with "management approval." Now, every time we use the card our servers tell us it will take several extra minutes to check out because they have to get some type of approval for the use of the card. It can be pretty frustrating at times - for example, at the lounge in the Polynesian it literally took 20 minutes. I didn't think the card was that unusual - seems like a lot of people have it. Why make it difficult to use? Unless they are trying to discourage its use? I can't figure it out. Anyone else have this problem? Maybe we've just had a string of bad luck. It's a great savings since we don't eat enough to justify the dining plan but gosh it makes paying the tab a little awkward.

This has always been the normal way of using this discount. Management has always had to approve the discount. (Maybe not everyone was doing this). We try to give the server the card before the bill arrives because we know that they have to get it approved. They treat the CM discount the same way. Since management approves all discounts, it prevents CMs from giving a discount to friends and family (that's what we were told recently by a CM friend).
 
The discount has always required a manager's approval - but sometimes it's more difficult to get a manager than other times.

Victoria Falls once declined to allow me to use the card - I believe because they would have had to summon a manager from downstairs at Jiko and didn't want to do it.
 

We have not had any issues in the year we have had the card, as recently as late January....we are going back on Wed for 5 days and I hope we do not have any trouble with it

I agree, the lounges are the most difficult to get the approval for. We got some whining from territory lounge at WL when using the card there. I went to WCC to be seated and my DH stayed behind to take care of the bill. It took at least 15 minutes to settle the bill.

We had the same problem at the GF lounge. You'd think they'd have a better system in place - we might have gone back another night if it hadn't been such an issue to use the card.
 
Yeah, it's always required a manager's approval. That's usually easy to get but sometimes not. We find it often takes a while to get manager's approval when using it at the Garden View tea.
 
We used our card at the beginning of Feb and never had any problems. Never even heard that they needed management approval... Good luck!
