According to Deb Allears newletter I received this morning. The DDE card is now available to AP passholders at a reduced rate. Since we signed up for an add-on at Saratoga Springs to receive the AP, we are definitely going to buy a DDE card and eat our way around the world.

Here is an excerpt from her newsletter.

NEW Annual Passholder Perk! Walt Disney World Annual
Passholders, regardless of residency, are now eligible for
membership in the Disney Dining Experience, and they can receive
$25 off the regular $75 fee to boot! Previously, this membership
was only open to Florida residents. The primary benefit of
membership is a 20 percent discount on all food and beverages at
participating resort hotel and theme park restaurants (valid for
a party of up to 10). Membership also includes complimentary
resort and theme park parking for dining, as well as invitations
to special member-only events. (Note that the Disney Dining
Experience Membership card is not accepted on holidays,
including New Year's Eve, New Year's Day, Mother's Day, Easter,
July 4, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.) Call
(407) 566-5858 (Monday - Friday, 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. Eastern) for
more information.

I didn't see the whole thread on the DVC Community Board about this very subject. I forget that board is there. Sorry.

Yes, but on the Communtiy board, they have it abbreviated as DDE. Now I had no idea of what DDE stood for until I read your thread, so you really did add value, as otherwise I would not have looked at the DDE thread at all.

Now I looked at the restaurants the DDE covers on AllEarsNet, but that info is from 2003. I wish there were more current info on what is covered. I am wondering how much greater is the DDE coverage compared to AP and DVC discounts.

So you only need one DDE card for the group and it isn't restricted to lunch only like the AP discounts?

I see CRT and Hollywood and Vine. Can you use the discount on the princess breakfast in the castle and the Fantasmic package?

We just purchased ours, the lines are very busy. It took awhile to get though then another 20 mins on hold.

Breakfast at the Castle and Fantasmic is included.

I usually do not purchase cards to get a discount, but it will nice to have only 1 card with a very large list of places for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner without trying to figure out between DVC and AP discounts. I figured it would probably only take us 3 or less sit down meals to break even.

Just an FYI, it takes 3 to 6 weeks to get the cards. You get 2 cards for the $50.00 and they are good until 1/31/06.

The card will expire 1 year from issue so the 1/31/2006 expiration will only be if you buy it now.

I'm waiting until closer to our next trip so that we can use them for two trips (we go annually, 51 weeks apart).

Best wishes -

:confused3 At first I was pretty excited about this discount. But then I looked at the list and saw that in most cases, the 'counter type' service is not included. Being just the 2 of us, it does not look like it would be any savings for us. But I am happy for the rest of you! :cool1:

Can you but this card while at Disney. We leave on Sunday for a good long stay and would love to have the card as soon as possible after we arrive.

I don't think it's available as a walk-up purchase. I'd call tomorrow (1-407-566-5858 - option 3) and order the card. It's taking 4-6 weeks to actually get the card, but they will send an email authorization for you to print out for use on your next trip. I called today and got the email a couple of hours later.

Enjoy!

Thanks DOC, I'll do it ASAP in the morning. Got a 26 day stay, I think we will get our $ out of it.

We have a FL Seasonal AP which doen NOT include parking. If we buy the DDE card and plan to eat in one of the restaurants in the park, does that mean we get free parking? I find that hard to believe. We would arrive at 9am to spend time in the park and have a PS at 5:30pm. Would the really let us park for free? I wonder how that will work?

Wow! I didn't notice this advertisement. We have 8 of us going in May. Even though we have this wonderful kitchen, it seems as if we are always dining out. This will definitely save us $$$.

Is this for sure for anyone that has an AP pass. I called Disney today for several questions (not the number given here) and was told it was for Florida residence only.

It used to only be for Florida residents only. Now it is for all AP holders. Your best bet is to call the # that has been posted here. :flower1:
