So I'm buying an AP on Day 1 of our trip in July....But I want to buy the Disney Dining Experience Card...Is this possible? Can I call today and tell them I'm buying it on day 1?

Or...if I arrive on Friday and buy my pass as soon as I arrive, can i pick up the temporary card that day or on Sat?

Has anyone done this?

Cheers,
Josh

DDE office is M-F, so yes, you could buy the AP on Friday, and pick up a temp card later that same day. I would suggest to get the AP, and then call DDE, as early that a.m. as possible. I don't know if they have a cut-off time for such things, but we did that last year: picking up our AP at 9:00 a.m., called DDE immediately, and our temp card was available for pick-up later that same day.

If you purchase an AP on site, and do not have the voucher in advance, it is possible to get a temporary DDE card. Also this works if there is very little lead time between your ordering the card and your arrival.

1. Call the DDE office at 407-566-5858 between 8:30am and 4:00pm Monday to Friday (except Holidays) and give them your name, the string of letters and numbers on the bottom of the pass (starting with a "W") and your credit card information. If you are a Florida Resient and not an AP holder they will ask for your Florida Driver's license (or State ID) number.

2. Starting at 5:30pm that day, and any time it is open, you can go to the Guest Relations Window outside Epcot's Main Entrance (On your right as you face Spaceship Earth) with a photo ID and you will be given an envelope.

3. The envelope will have in it a temporary card which expires 30 days from the date of the request and a sheet of paper listing all locations which currently accept the card.

4. The plastic embossed card whould arrive at your home within a month. The expiration date on the embossed card will be either the last day of the current month in the next year, or if you ordered it late enough in the month it will be the last day of the following month the next year.

Also, if you purchase it between the first and about the 7th of a month it will expire the next year on the last day of the same month. If your purchase is after the 10th, the expiration will be the last day of the following month the next year. If you order it between the 7th and 10th is anybody's guess.

We called the DDE office a few weeks before our trip and gave them the info on the back of our AP exchange certificates which we also bought a few weeks before our trip. We explained when we would be arriving and the CM at the DDE office indicated we could pick up our temporary card at Epcot Guest Services.

Since we had to activate our AP's, we just went to Guest Services at Epcot our 1st day, then once they were activated, told the CM at the wicket that we should also have a temporary DDE card and she checked and gave us an envelope with our temporary card.

When we arrived home, our regular card was waiting for us.

If I called and ordered the card tommorow would I get it in time? What happens if I don't get my card by the time we leave on July 6? If I've already ordered it could I get a temporary card while I'm there??

I believe they only issue temporary cards if your arrival date is under 30 days.

What I would do is if you haven't gotten it by the time you leave, give DDE a call again and let them know. They most likely would issue you a temporary card to pick up.

So does this mean I can buy an AP voucher ahead of time and exchange it when I arrive?

If I do this, when does the AP start? The day I buy the voucher or the day I exchange it?

It starts the day you exchange it...

When you order your AP they send you a plastic card about the size of a credit card which is the exchange certificate. You exchange that for your AP at any Guest Services and your AP is activated when you pick it up.

The number on the exchange certificate is what you can use to order the DDE ahead of time.

Thanks bunches....I thin I'll just do that then! Sounds great...Can't wait to get there....Is it July 13 yet?

You may. The last time we ordered our card it took less than 3 weeks. If your card doesn't arrive, you can call the DDE office and arrange for a temp card to be waiting. (don't forget the hours, M-F)
