Disney Dining,DIS Meets, and WAIT-Why is that lady holding..... FINAL THOUGHTS 11/27

Say it isn't so Michelle! You were supposed to be my rock - helping me remain a FB resister and you went and joined the dark side!!! :sad2:

You should join too. It's a great way to stay in touch with people and see what is going on, etc. Just don't get hooked like me on Cafe World, Farmville, Petville, etc. :lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:

I'm glad that you made it home safe, too! Can't wait to hear all about your trip with Mama! :)

Rachel wanted the gray/Small , but she couldn't find it. Where did you get yours? The only gray she every found were L, XL, and she is a tiny girl.

This guy in her grade at school, has the gray, and we've laughed because he wears it like 2-3 times a week. He told Rachel that it's soft and feels good. So, she wanted the same color, so (in her words), "I can match Brooks!"

I found the gray shirt in the CBR store. It was very hard to find a small in any of the colors.

I'm here, subbing and cannot wait to read more. So happy you started your TR. I love the coffee mug. I'm such a coffee drinker and if I purchased a couple mugs when I go then I could throw away all the other non Disney ones I have. I love the thought of sipping coffee and dreaming of Disney. :cloud9:

Love all the souvenirs! :thumbsup2 I especially love the ToT pin - I might not like the ride, but that pin is pretty neat!

I'm ready for you guys to get on the road! :cool1:

Thanks, Jackie! Another TR I was reading did that, and I thought that's a great way to stall until the PP cd gets here! ;)

July 30? That's horrible---is that inservice for teachers or do you mean the kids have to report for classes that day?

Being a private school, we don't have the inservice days that some public school systems have. We generally have a half day of inservice (SACS meetings, etc.) and then the kids will come the next day. This year, the first day with students, will be August 9.

That's the first day for us. Students arrive August 4. :headache:

Say it isn't so Michelle! You were supposed to be my rock - helping me remain a FB resister and you went and joined the dark side!!! :sad2:

And she's having lots of fun over there, too!;)

I'm so ashamed....................... I just caved. I'm weak---I held out as long as possible.

Please forgive me, and then say you'll get one too. I'll be your FB friend! :)

I don't know anything about that farmville, petville, etc.....I'm finding it hard to keep up with my DIS and FB, so I don't need to be working on a farm, or tending to anyone's pets! :rotfl:

I'm thinking about it, if for no other reason than to spy on my son! :lmao: It seems as though his status has recently changed, and there was a cute little blond girl at his game tonight who waited to see him afterwards........ :scared1: I don't think I'm ready for this!

I bought the same retro Disney shirt in gray. I love those little racecars. I don't think I've seen those but I want some!! :car:

I've personally got no problems with spying on kids, especially my own!

DAY (-1) Friday, May 21

FIRST OFF---SORRY THERE ARE NO PICTURES IN THIS FIRST UPDATE. Some stressful issues kept me from even thinking about taking pictures. Read on to find out what I mean.

***************************************************************************

School was out---It was my first day of summer vacation. Did I sleep in, relax, and get a manicure? NO, of course not! We were leaving that afternoon to make the 7-7 ½ hour drive to Tallahassee, in our quest to arrive at Disney World on Saturday. :yay:

I spent the morning finishing up my packing and running a fast load of laundry. I went to the bank, and got some cash and quarters for those toll roads and Disney washers/dryers. I also vacuumed out the van, and got the “car bag” ready with books, colored pencils, paper, and the 20 questions game. I double checked that iPods and DSs were charged, and that there were plenty of DVDs in the van.

The girls both slept in until about 11 that morning, and then they got busy finishing their packing. After lunch, I was going to meet my sister about halfway between our houses (30 minutes for each of us), to give her Millie, our dog. She was going to keep Millie while we were at Disney.

Once that was taken care of, I was headed home. Reid had spent the night with my parents, so that I could pack and run errands that day without having him to take care of. When I got home from meeting my sister, my parents came and brought Reid home. Kevin called shortly after that, and he said that he had finished his conference call and would be home earlier than he’d first thought. It was only 3:45 p.m. I was pretty excited, because he had first thought he wouldn’t be able to leave work until 5:00. I got the luggage loaded into the van, and Kevin was home by 4:15. We did all that last minute stuff (bumping the air up, bathroom trips HA!) and got everyone in the van. We backed out of our driveway at 4:35 p.m. WE WERE OFF! :woohoo:

Thirty minutes later, the girls were asking when we were going to get dinner. They’d not had lunch, they said, and they were hungry. We ignored their groanings and kept driving. We stopped just north of Birmingham, around 6:20, and went into a Chick-fil-a. Everyone used the restroom, and we ordered our dinner to go. Back into the van we went, onto I-65 South. We didn’t make any more stops until we were south of Montgomery. We stopped for gas and a restroom break.

A little bit around 10 p.m., we were near Dothan; I noticed that it felt stuffy in the van. Nearly at the same time, the kids started saying they were hot. Kevin said the air didn’t feel very cold. I asked could the unit have frozen up. So we turned the A/C off, and put the windows down for a little while. Then we turned the A/C back on, and it felt cold. Thank goodness, we all laughed. We enjoyed the cool air for about 5 minutes, and then it started feeling less and less cool. Something was wrong with the A/C. It wasn’t cooling. We put the windows down, and rode the rest of the way to Tallahassee like that. Of course, I worried the entire way. What was wrong? How much was this going to cost us? Would we need to get it repaired before we could finish our trip? I pretty much stressed the rest of the ride that evening. :headache:

Finally around 11:20(that would be 12:20 eastern time), we made it to our hotel in Tallahassee. We had booked a room using Kevin’s Marriott reward points. Rather than having to get two rooms, we’d found a Marriott Springhill Suites that slept five. We weren’t sure where it was, but the GPS would deliver us there. We got off the interstate, and passed where we usually stay. We actually wound up going about 5-6 miles off the interstate---right downtown Tallahassee. We went past the capitol; we’d never seen it. Of course we had an unhampered view, since our windows were down! ;)

We arrived at the hotel, and the girls were in love. I wish I had taken pictures, but it was late, and I was just so stressed over the A/C issue, that I couldn’t think of anything else. The lobby had this real mod-style furniture, these sea foam green sheers hung in a circle around seating areas. The light fixtures were real wavy---It looked like you were under the water. In our room, the bathroom was divided into two rooms, and they weren’t connected to each other. One had the shower and sink. The other had the toilet and another sink. Instead of regular doors, they had these sliding doors with a frosted glass that let light in, but you couldn’t see through them. It was definitely cool. :cool2:

We fell into the beds a little before 1 a.m. I had a hard time getting to sleep. I kept worrying about the air conditioner in the van and money, and A/C and money, and A/C , money, and getting to Disney……….………You get the picture ! :guilty:

UP NEXT----What happens to the A/C? Can it be repaired? Do we arrive at Disney hot and sweaty, or cool and collected?

I would be the same way, up worrying instead of sleeping. I hope it doesn't cost too much.... on pins and needles. :sad2:

Yay, an update. Boo, for the AC problems :(

I completely understand (especially also being a teacher) how even the littlest things that are going to cost money can really snag a plan. That happened to us last year before our trip (different situation, but it also involved money) and you can't help but think 'maybe we shouldn't be spending money on this trip.' You know? However, my family has suffered major loss of family members and it has made us realize that spending time together as a family and having those quality moments is much more important than anything else that might come up :goodvibes

Oh, I would have been stressing big time over that AC and wouldn't have slept eitiher. Cars are such a major expense, even more so after you buy them.
