Here's the story: :happytv:

I have purchased tickets for MVMCP for 12/4 for myself and my parents. It's a surprise for them as a "thank you" for all their help recently regarding the flood damage at my condo, etc. :scared1: We currently have an ADR for Kona Cafe that night at 5:10pm. I have tried to find availability at Crystal Palace, Chef Mickey's, Liberty Tree Tavern, Tony's Town Square and others for earlier that evening, so we can enter the park on our party ticket earlier. There is nothing available. We're on the dining plan and need to use a TS either that day (12/4) or on the 7th.

So, here's my question to all of you: Should I cancel Kona so we can get to the party before 7? If I do cancel Kona, which breakfast would you recommend for 12/7? We could do Boma, 1900 Park Fare, Chef Mickey's or Cape May (assuming any of these are available). Or, would you keep the Kona ADR and just get to the party as soon as you could. Our ADR is for 5:10 and I thought we'd try to get there in hopes of being seated a bit early. If we kept the Kona reservation, we'd probably still get to the MK before the party officially started at 7pm.

We've never eaten at Kona Cafe and we currently have an ADR for Boma for dinner on 12/6 which would be completely different than breakfast at Boma.

TIA! :worship:

I'm going to be doing Cape May next tiem I am down there because it looks like the most unique character breakfast.

I have never done Boma breakfast but Boma dinner is my favorite dining experience at WDW.

We've eaten breakfast at the Kona and it was out of this world! Service was great and the food was awsome. Your other options are just as good so your in a win win situation! :thumbsup2

We will be at Kona at the same date and time prior to the MVMCP. We are spending our day in DTD and then will eat at Kona then enter the MVMCP and hopefully kids will last until midnight. There are many very good reviews of Kona on the dining review thread and we are excited to try it. See you there.

I had a similar situation last year and ended up moving my dinner to a late lunch (last lunch seating at 2:45pm) at the Turf Club (at SSR where my Dad was staying). It worked out perfectly, we had our large TS meal and then got to the party early :santa:

Your other options are good. Love love love Boma breakfast & Cape May breakfast! Can't go wrong with either one :thumbsup2

I try to avoid TS at all the night of the parties. Even at 5pm alot can go wrong to keep you in the restaurant.I have had 5p ressies where I wasn't even seated till almost 545p, then had to wait for the waitress, our food, characters to come around, the bill etc.i ended up missing the first 35 mins of the party. Now I go CS all the way.

I would stick with your plan. Keep calling and IF a TS that you actually want opens up, go ahead and rebook. If you have 5:10 ressies, realistically, you should be on Main St at 6:30. Just tell your server you are headed to the party if you don't want a 'lingering' meal :cool1:

Just an update:

I decided to ask my parent's what they wanted to do (without telling them about the Christmas party) and they said they'd like to try Boma for a late breakfast on our last day. I haven't done it yet, but I'll be cancelling our ADR for Kona and we'll use a CS dining plan credit at the MK during the party.
