My mom just found this as she was browsing the disney site. It says that an appetizer is now included in the dining plan? Is this true? I guess they have changed it back for 2009?

I haven't seen that anywhere, but it would make me happy! Where was she seeing that?

The Disney Dining Plan for 2009 is substantially the same as it was in 2008 and does not include the appetizer. Only the Deluxe and Platinum/Premium dining plans include the appetizer.

And, incase you are wondering, no you can not exchange the desert for an appetizer.

Best wishes!

I see on some of the official literature that it does include an appetizer for guests 3 -9 only.

My mom is trying to call them right now to see if she can get through to anyone. I will let you know an update once she does.

Hmmm....well, that link does say each adult table service meal includes an appetizer. :confused3

It does indeed. However, here is the latest, updated basic dining brochure from DDP:

http://www.disneytravelagents.com/StaticFiles/DTA-Domestic/pdf/2009Product/2009Dining.pdf

which clearly says appetizer for ages 3-9 only.

The deluxe dining plan includes appetizers for adults, but the description attached to the prior link is that of the basic dining plan.

At a guess, the brochure is correct and the link to the package info contains an incorrect description of the adult basic dining plan.

She got through. The woman said there must be a glitch on the site and that it is only for ages 3-9. And, that by the 9th the website should be completely updated. Sorry for any confusion!

I thought it would be that, but was holding out for them to say yes!! :(

This is still on the main Disney website. Has anyone gotten any confirmation yet? I am printing out a copy directly from their website to keep. Who knows, maybe if it is a mistake they will let us have an appetizer since it was their mistake.

Is it just me or isn't this a pretty important detail!!!!

It seems like they should have to honor it if they have it in print on their VERY OWN website.

I just printed it as well. This is our first trip using the DDP package, so I'll just add this to my little folder that I'm taking with me.

OK...I've always been sort of a lurker on this board. I'm also a TGMer. I've noticed on TGM and DIS the whole discussion of the appetizer on the DDP. I have also found on the new Disney site where appetizers are included in the 2009 DDP. Well, I finally broke down and called WDW DINE about 30 min. ago. The CM I spoke with said YES! Appetizer is included in the DDP (TS) for 2009. She also said that gratuity still IS NOT included. Each TS meal will have an appetizer, entree, dessert and drink for the DDP. She didn't mention if it was for children or adult. She simple said that the appetizer is now included in the DDP. I hope it is true!

Given that I've looked at the 2009 versus 08 plan until my eyes bleed, this has not shown up before. The brochure itself has been updated at least once since released so I'm going to have hope that it really does include an appetizer. At a minimum they should let you trade the dessert for an app, who needs that much dessert???

My understanding is that the plan was in negotiation with some of the restaurants until the end of the year so it wouldn't surprise me if they did make the change back with the price increase. Fingers seriously crossed, this will make it really worth doing for us.

It will be VERY interesting to see what shows up when our tags and stuff arrive!

Great find!
