Do you think there will ever be a time where you can manage your reservations online for your Disney trips?

Or am I that clueless that this has already happened?

What do you think the pros and cons would be? Or already are? ;)

I don't thinl it will ever happen -

Not unless they make you put down $$$ to do it.

I wish they would do that and I wouldn't mind having to put a c/c deposit down for each place either to do it.

I asked a disney dining CM this before and she said she doesn't think it will ever happen.

She said they want to keep control over the system-- they want to avoid too many hands in the pot.

My guess: It is technically easy to implement. If you can do it for resort, who not for restaurant? I am programmer and with the proper resource, cost, there is no difficulty to implement the system.

You asked dining CM. it is not Disney's comment. it is his or her comment.
He/She does not want to have the system. Who lose the job if the dinig reservation system is available through web??;)

I too would love to book all dining on line. It would save time and hassles. I think, or maybe its blind hope, that Disney will see the effectiveness of this concept and initiate it.

I think more than jobs (because, really, MOST people will still make reservations on the phone), dining reservations won't go online because:
- Heavy traffic will prevent Guests from getting the exact restaurant and minute they choose :teeth:
- Just because the site will indicate clearly what "reservation" means does not mean the Guest will read, comprehend, or agree with Disney's interpretation - and will demand to be seated at X o'clock, dadgummit, because that's what time my reservation is :teeth: Telephone reservationists can explain this and other policies during the transaction.
- People can (and therefore likely will) hack into the system and reassign desirable and hard-to-get reservations to themselves.
- Guests will arrive at restaurants claiming they have reservations and blaming that dadgummed computer when the reservation can't be found.

One more: Guests without computers (yes, they DO exist) will complain it's not fair.

I'd love to see it. Guests without computers could still call WDW for ADR's. Guests can make online ressies for Hard Rock Cafe restaurants. The computer lets you see what's available (in 15 minute increments, I think). Disney could even set it up so that multiple ressies for the same time/different place couldn't be made. Seems like it could solve a lot of headaches. A person could carry his confirmation number just like he does for airline tickets (or for that matter, just like people have their confirmation numbers from their ADR phone call.)

I love Opentable.com, & would love to see WDW implement a similar program. If I had to guarantee the ADR with a CC in order to book online & deter people from double booking, then so be it. I do agree that they should never do away with the dining phone line.

They used to do something like this (although it was while at Disney). Back in the "olden days" you used to be able to reserve dining from touch screens at Epcot I believe....
