Disney Destiny

Destiny is a carbon copy of the Wish with different paint. Same layout, so not adult bar area like the first four ships.
What a shame, Wish was lovely but totally geared towards families with children. So Destiny will be the same. We have always enjoyed the adult areas on the other ships. The adult pool area was so small it was ridiculous on the Wish.

I keep hoping they will surprise us with the Treasure (and Destiny) and make deck 14 forward (pool area and Currents Bar) adults only, comparable to the Satellite Falls area on the Dream and Fantasy, but I'm not holding my breath. That is something to give us adults a little more, without having to change the whole layout of the ship.

That’s what I keep hoping, adults were always important on Disney Ships but sadly not now! I didn’t like the wish even though I couldn’t wait to book it! Even in the Space bar kids came in all the time, I love kids but enjoy having adult time! The wish was completely lacking in adult entertainment some evenings there was nothing on! We have booked for Alaska next year but not with Disney.

I felt exact opposite. Wish was my first ship ever and I enjoyed it immensely. Adult bars were always half empty and saw no kids inside them ever. I don't really hang out by the pool though, my only complaint was there seemed to be very little shade in the adult pool area. And entertainment was top notch. I then sailed the Wonder and thought all the entertainment was more geared towards families with children, multiple deck shows reserve a whole area for a kid only dance party and its hard to explain (like the production value and story had been dumbed down) like Disney Dreams show seemed targeted at kids and we found the Golden Mickeys gimmick inane (oh no how is the show coordinator gonna sing). I ended up feeling weird attending the Freezing Night Away deck party as an adult and I have never felt awkward about being a Disney Adult before (Okay at the Pixar Club party events at Disneyland recently as that was also clearly only for children as well). And hanging out the adult pool area on the Wonder, there were always children wandering through but there was plenty of shade and nice seating areas.

I discussed these differences with BF as well as they had good theory the older ships were for adults to get away from Disney IP and their children, whereas the newer ships are targeting those Disney Adult millennials like me. Give me an Aristocats themed bar any day over a Cadillac themed bar... probably why I so excited about all the new ships vs the older ships.

I totally agree the shows on Wonder have certainly had their day, but when we were on the Wish we had no late night (after 9.30) magicians, comedians or tribute bands. The bars on Wish lacked any atmosphere, that is why they were empty. They were mostly open plan, so people walked by either side. The daytime adult entertainment was pretty poor. The ship is beautiful. The films being shown were all Marvel with the exception of couple on castaway cay day. I would love an aristocrat themed bar and really loved the Frozen dinner show, so I’m sure the Lion King dinner show will be amazing. It seems Disney is moving as you say towards families, whereas they previously encouraged adults to enjoy their ships. We have been on all the other ships, they are all different, but all amazing and always had a fabulous time. I will always love Disney cruises (it’s in my blood)🤣 and I am also excited about the new ships.

Ok, as another Disney Adult millennial, yes to this! I mean, I haven't yet met a Disney ship that I didn't enjoy, but during this week's Destiny announcement, I had so many messages from friends because it seemed like they made this ship just for me 😄 Lion King, Hercules, Dalmatians, freaking Chernabog?! Yes, please.

For another opinion, the bars and lounges on the Wish were my favorite. Love the unique theming and atmosphere of nautical themed The Keg & Compass, the pampering at Hook's Barbery, the beauty and beast theme of The Rose, the famous Star Wars themed Hyperspace Lounge and the elegance of the Nightingales. All of them self contained (not open planned) and the only one I ever saw children peeking in was the Hyperspace Lounge (and who can blame them). The only one with people walking on both sides that comes to mind is the Bayou, but even that is well themed. Well, if you like Disney's attention to detail in theming with clean crisp lines. If you don't like Disney's design style, I can see some might not find them to their taste. Anyway, I suppose this just reflects how personal taste can be.

Does anyone know when we will be able to book the Destiny and if its true Hercules is going to be show on it?

I loved the Wish and we sailed without children. We went to the Hyperspace lounge and it wasn't crowded. We really enjoyed Nightingales and the bartender made me a nice Old Fashioned with Blantons. We didn't see any kids there at the times we went. We have the Treasure booked and can't wait to visit the Haunted Mansion bar, which will also be on the Destiny.

Is Freddie still there? He moved to the WISH from the WONDER's Cadillac lounge. Great CM.

we are definitely Freddie fans... last august we had him on the Wish..simply amazing. we had a drink tasting of his, champagne, and remarked we were disappointed we couldn't get in another of his.. he told us to come by anyway and squeezed us in. Then we were chatting about whisky, and I remarked I wasn't a fan of the blends in another class (not his) and he said to come back later and he would give me my own personal tasting of single malts.. it was amazing and actually for Disney reasonably priced. of course I tend to tip large. huge Freddie fan.

That's the thing, right there, isn't it-- that keeps us booking DCL. The service, the CM's, I talk to my friends that sail RCL always trying to get me to try RCL I ask them to tell me the name of their favorite state room host or dining team etc. They can't name one person most of the time. I on the other hand rattle off 4 or 5 CM I can't wait to catch up with. We book the same room a lot of times on the ship to get the same state room host, they always great us with a smile by name. Its' amazing service and we always feel so appreciated when we sail DCL.

definitely... on our last cruise (December 23), I decided to treat my adult children (first time cruisers). We get to embarkation terminal, run into a CM my wife and I had met once on a previous cruise, she recognized us, embraced us, and then after meeting our kids, scooped us all up and shepherded us through the lines to board the boat like we were royalty. And she made a point to make sure we felt special the rest of the cruise. amazing.

Especially for us since DW has a major mobility issue. CM's are always there to help her at the buffet going from station to station and then finding a table. Also when by the pool they come by and ask if they can get her anything from the QS food stations, ice cream, coke or water. We have never gotten that consistently on any of the other CL's. We were just on the NCL Encore in June and previously in December and only twice in 7 days did a CM offer to help at the buffet.

The same with other departments and across all ships, whether bar tenders (Freddie) and bar attendants, guest services personnel, servers, merchandise personnel and even dining room managers (officers) we've always been recognized and greeted when we see them. There is even a server, who we first had on the WONDER in 2012 as an asst server, that came over when he saw us on the DREAM. When we found out he was on the WISH we were able to request him for that cruise in 22.

That's like comparting a very small village with a large city. Royal Caribbean a lot of ships. I may take 3 Royal sailings a year and they are probably going to be on different ships. I'm sure if I sailed the same 3 or 4 ships constantly, I would also get to know the people. My husband did have a bartender on a Royal cruise to Alaska that he really liked. We saw him 2 years later on a different ship and he remembered what my husband drank and how he likes it made.
