Yeah - sounds fun but a PIA

My DH is not going to touch butterscotch or strawberry .... I think DS might like butterscotch. I LOVE the idea of the pizza one!!! I wonder what else we could dip into it!!!!!

Just let your imagination run wild! I like to go down the frozen food aisle in the supermarket and see what sparks my fancy. You could do tortellini, ravioli, etc. in the pizza one. Any kind of veggies are great in the cheese one. But my favorite (which I can no longer enjoy, Boo Hoo,) is the bread cubes in the cheese.

With the sweet, I love to dip angel food cake, firm bananas, marshmallows, graham crackers, strawberries and oranges (especially in chocolate).

Really the sky can be the limit with fondue.

My parents used to throw fondue parties in the 70's. As a child I remember sitting on the steps watching the adults have so much fun with the fondue. We were never allowed to touch it until we were a lot older. I was always envious.

Oh no, you're the second person on this thread to say that! I don't think I'll be sharing that recipe anymore. That recipe's been in our family for at least 35 years...my mom and I must have it down to a science. :confused3

Sorry Claire!

Amy :)

They worked okay for me, Amy. I'm not sure what I might have done differently than others, but they were delicious! Thanks for the recipe.

Worked great for me to........I think the trick is to keep the dough cool and roll very thin. I used the egg yolk and water with food coloring as a paint mixture and let the kids paint on them. Someone on here told me about the paint mixture and the kids loved doing that.

Just thought I would let ya'll know that I will loose the "GO DAWGS" in my siggie after we play in the Sugarbowl this weekend. I didn't know if anyone was getting tired of it.

I tried to give Alyssa some Dimetapp earlier this afternoon and she hates the taste of it so much, that she made herself throw up, crying so much.

I guess I'll try some Benadryl before bedtime, because her nose is just dripping. Poor baby. And as a result, Kevin went to church without us.

I hope all the sick kiddos (and adults, myself included!) feel better soon! :goodvibes

Amy :)

I so feel for you, Amy! Terra did that at the airport right before we left for Orlando at Thanksgiving. It was a mess and I had NO change of clothes in my carry on - won't be making that mistake again. Instead, she wore a "lobster dress"...otherwise known as a size 10-12 t-shirt.

Jennifer - I keep forgetting to ask - what's a photomovie?

ETA: I just found the website - they look amazing! Which park did you have on yours?

You do 5 chapters, 1 for each park plus one "beyond the parks". It's really neat!

Hi everyone! I'm still back on page 1295, but catching up. I just wanted to say hello and I hope that everyone's Christmases were great! Santa visited our hour while we were out to dinner last Wednesday. He brought Terra her Capt. Feathersword Sword so she was thrilled. She also loved her dress up clothes that we got for her. Luckily, I left those until the last 2 boxes to open because she had to try on EVERYTHING before going on to the next present. Friday, we left for the airport at 5am and were in CA by 11am. We got to spend the day with my best friend and celebrated her grandfather's birthday (I finally got to decorate some cookies!).

Saturday morning, I was up at 3am (damn jetlag) and Terra got up at 4:15. We hit IHOP and then decided to hit Disneyland!!! YIPPEE!!! In under 4 hours on Christmas Eve we did Dumbo, Carousel, Mr. Toad's Wild Ride, Casey Jr., Storybook Canal Boats, Tea Cups, Alice in Wonderland, Holiday Small World, Autopia cars, Jungle Cruise, Tiki Room (Terra's favorite) and, the highlight of my day - Terra's first trip on the Materhorn! It was a lot of fun. After that, we spent a great Christmas Eve with my best friend and her Dad's part of the family. We ran back to DL when we were done early enough and caught the Electrical Parade. We wanted to see the fireworks (which are SO great), but the fog was too heavy and they were cancelled. :(

Christmas morning dawned with Terra and I up at 4:30 this time. We got out the Minnie doll and Disney Chutes and Ladders that Santa had left overnight then hit Denny's for some early morning coffee and pie. Once DH finally got up we had breakfast at Rainforest Cafe in DTD before going to Build a Bear and World of Disney. After that, we spent a surprisingly fun rest of the day with DH's family.

Monday, after being up by 5am AGAIN and hitting IHOP AGAIN :), we hit DL again for a couple of hours before meeting up with our old playgroup. In an hour and a half, we did the Monorail, Autopia, Holiday Small World, Tea Cups and Tiki Room. I tried to upgrade my ticket to an AP, but the office wasn't open yet as their people were helping at the front gate. Instead, I had to come back later that night before leaving for the airport, which turned out to be an adventure in itself

After hitting my friend up for boxes and a duffle bag, we finally figured out how to get all of the gifts home (note to self - never give someone that has to fly ACROSS country with their gifts 2 Little People sets and a Thomas Train set, plus everything else) and took the red eye home. I was DEAD tired when we got home, but it was fun! Plus, I got Disney Scene It and Disney Uno so who can argue with that.

Hope all the little ones are feeling better now!! I will finish catching up soon and will be heading to the new weight loss thread soon, especially after eating as much as I did all weekend. :rolleyes1

Hi all! :wave2:

I haven't posted probably since Thanksgiving and will admit I only went back 10 pages to kind of catch up. Hope everyone's Christmas went well.

Denise, I hope your day goes OK. Our relationship is not that bad yet with the ILs but is has its moments (beginning with them buying every toy under the sun for Kyle- even the ones DH told them we were going to get at the next holiday- but I won't get into it)

Congrats to Kevin and Amy on the baby!!!! If you are 12 weeks pregnant and you were in WDW about 3 months ago does that mean you brought back your own little souvenier?????? ;) (about the diaper rash, try Aquaphor)

Welcome back Claire- 3 weeks at WDW- Wow! How do you ever come back to reality after that? We spent almost 2 weeks down there for our honeymoon and it was very hard to come back home!

Like I said I only went back 10 pages so I am probably missing tons more!

Christmas was fun here. As you can see from my signature, we have decided on our dates for the next trip to "Kyle's Happy Place!" Dec 10-17 '06. The in-laws are coming with so I am not so sure what to expect there...
Santa brought me Photo Impact so I am very excited to start experimenting!

Oh, great site for Cookie Cutters is kitchengifts.com- they have hundreds. I use Royal Icing when I frost and they sell it in dry bags there too!

Nap time is over here- puppy needs a potty break and I hear Kyle calling "Mommyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!"

See ya later!

Sure. I was going to PM them to you, but figured I would just post them here for all to share or ignore whichever you want to do.

My family loves to have fondue parties. We have done hot oil fondue. This is my least favorite as someone has to watch the oil all the time. Fill a saucepan with about 5-6 inches of oil and let it heat up, but not boil. Then use your favorite appetizers; jalapeno poppers, breaded shrimp and clam strips, popcorn chicken, etc. Skewer them and let them cook until golden. You can also fry raw beef or chicken, but I would suggest a separate saucepan of oil for the raw meat.

Here are some of our favorite recipes:

Cheese Fondue

1 1/2 C. White grape juice
2 lbs. Velveeta, cubed
3/4 C. green onion cheese
1/2 C. sour cream
1/2 C. butter

Place grape juice in crockpot and bring to a boil (or get it really hot). Add cheeses and stir occasionally until melted. Add sour cream and butter. Cook, stirring occasionally until smooth. Transfer to a fondue pot and keep warm.

Serve with cubed French bread, steamed broccoli or cauliflower and boiled new potatoes.

If you can't find green onion cheese, you can use Monterey Jack and chop 3-4 green onions into the mixture. For spicier you can use Pepper Jack cheese. This is so good my kids request it on their veggies.

Cheesy Pizza Fondue

1 jar meatless spaghetti sauce
2 C. shredded Mozzarella cheese
1/4 C. shredded Parmesan cheese
2 tsp. dried oregano
1 tsp. dried minced onion
1/4 tsp. garlic powder
1 unsliced loaf Italian bread, cubed

In a crock pot, combine the spaghetti sauce, cheeses, oregano, onion and garlic powder. Cook for 4-6 hours or until cheese is melting and sauce is hot. Serve with bread cubes or breaded Mozzarella sticks.

Butterscotch Fondue

1/2 C. butter or margarine, cubed
2 C. packed brown sugar
1 can sweetened condensed milk
1 C. light corn syrup
2 Tbs. water
1/4 C. English toffee bits
1 tsp. vanilla
Angel food cake cubes and fresh fruit

In a large sucepan, combine the butter, brown sugar, milk, corn syrup and water. Cook and tir over medium heat until smooth. Remove from the heat. Stir in toffee bits and vanilla. Transfer to a fondue pot or mini slow cooker; keep warm. Serve with cake and fruit.

Warm Strawberry Fondue

1 pkg. frozen sweetened sliced strawberries, thawed
1/4 C. half and half
1 tsp. cornstarch
1/2 tsp. lemon juice
Angel food cake cubes and fresh fruit

In a food processor or blender, combine the strawberries, cream, cornstarch and lemon juice; cover and process until smooth. Pour into a saucepan. Bring to a boil; cook and stir for 2 minutes or until slightly thickened. Transfer to a fondue pot or a mini slow cooker; keep warm. Serve with cake and fruit.

I hope you enjoy these recipes. I can't find my chocolate fondue recipe, but I know that we've used hot fudge sauce, slightly thinned out with heavy cream before and that was good.

Good luck with it. Fondue is Fun!

Glynis - I've never fondued before (if that's a word!) and these look excellent. Is it hard for you to go over this kind of stuff knowing that you shouldn't have it??

Before my mother rolls over in her grave for not thanking everyone -- THANK YOU for all of your well wishes for our anniversary. I've got to say, I had more "happy anniversary wishes" from people here than from my own family!!! Hard to believe that I haven't met any of you except Deb - and that was for under 5 minutes!! Had I realized how much we'd be "talking" here, I would've gotten to know her better when we were in the world!! At least shared a drink or something!!!

So thank you for all your wishes - even skeptical Skunka smiled when he saw them (especially the skunka and steamboat one from Kate - but don't let him know that I told you he smiled. I'll never hear the end of that one).

You'd think so, huh? Actually, it's not that hard at all. I'm losing my cravings for sweets, so I guess that's a good thing. I can still do some of the fondue (the savory kind) as long as I just use veggies for dipping. Soon, though, I'll be at my goal weight and I can start adding back some of the carbs that I've been cutting out. Whoe grains, etc. I'm looking forward to that, and it's coming sooner than I thought it would. I'm already halfway there. DH is so amazed! Me, too! It's kind of fun to pull clothes out of your closet that you haven't been able to wear for years, try them on and realize that they are too big on you. My father is gearing up to take me on a shopping trip for a new wardrobe once this is all over. He loves to shop and has great taste. I'm hoping I can convince him that Disneyland has great clothes. He's the only member of my family who also has the Disney obsessive gene.

No. But Mickey threw some pixie dust in our suitcase and took care of us when we got home. :wizard:

That's awesome that you have a trip on deck!
