Me too, Lisa! I've only got a few days left on my photopass, and they're expensive.

Me too, please?rosiejo said:In that case... can you PM me please![]()
rosiejo said:Hi Glynis - fairy cakes are I suppose what you would call cup cakes - they are small sponge cakes in individual wrappers and you can decorate them with icing and sweets.
Here are some pictures:

They're realy easy to make. Here's a recipe:
Fairy Cakes
Makes 24 mini cakes or 12 larger ones.
For mini cakes you will need a 12 hole tartlet tin (these are 5cm at the rim and 1 1/2 cm deep) and you will need to use it twice. For larger cakes use a 12-hole bun tin (these are 6 1/2 cm at the rim and 2cm deep). You can use the little paper cases according to the size tin you have. If not, butter the base and sides of the holes before filling with the mixture.
125g / 4 1/2 oz softened butter
125g / 4 1/2 oz caster sugar
2 eggs, lightly beaten
1 tsp vanilla extract
125g / 4 1/2 oz self-raising flour
2 tbsp milk
Preheat the oven to 190C/375F/Gas mark 5. Either butter the tin or place the paper cases in the holes (see above). In a mixing bowl beat the butter and sugar until pale and fluffy. You can use an electric whisk or a wooden spoon.
Add the beaten egg, a little at a time, whisking to incorporate, then beat in the vanilla.
Sift in half of the flour and fold into the mixture. Add the milk and the rest of the flour and fold until well combined.
Spoon into the tin and bake for 12 minutes or until risen and golden on top. Allow to cool for ten minutes on a rack before removing from the tin.
**I think the bun tin must be what you guys would cook muffins in - and your muffins tend to come in the same paper cases.**
You can also make butterfly cakes by cutting out a piece off the top of the cake and slicing it in half to make the wings - and then putting some butter cream in the top of the cakes and sticking the wings into it - they look quite cute too.

Glynis said:hopeful for some good sleep since for the last few years our kids haven't awakened before 8:00. Not so this year. At 5:00 all 4 were awake and clamoring for us to get up.

itslisa said:No doubt! I was so mad after our trip in February when I realized just HOW expensive they were .. and all the time we wasted letting them photograph us! Boy was I ticked!
Then, we (DH and I) put our heads together. We try to stay on the side of good ......

When i go and the photopass people are taking the pictures, i ask them to take one with my camera too--they have always said yes, and i am able to have a picture even though i may not buy the photopass
itslisa said:Don't know if Santa wraps at your house .... but this *may* help next year. We were always allowed to head downstairs at whatever time, but Mom & Dad could not be woken until 8am. We were allowed to look in our stocking and play with anything in the stocking. We were not allowed to open presents until Mom & Dad came down too.
It worked well for DS this year too. He can read time ... so I pointed out the clock. I woke early but DH didn't. DS had a grand time with his stocking and DH got a bit more shut-eye.
Glynis said:That's a good idea, except, DH is a photographer for a local news station, and is always asked to video our kids on Christmas morning for some atmosphere shots. So, we all have to be up and ready to be photographed. It wasn't really too bad, though. I would have hated to miss the looks on the kids faces, too.
