Egg Yolk Tempera


INGREDIENTS:
1 egg yolk
1 teaspoon water
5 drops food coloring

DIRECTIONS:
Mix egg yolk and water.
Divide into dishes for as many colors as you want to make.
Add food coloring to get shade desired (e.g., 2 Red plus 2 Yellow for Orange; 3 Blue for Blue).
Paint on unbaked cookies and bake as you normally would.
Cookies will come out with shiny color finish.

*This makes a shiny gloss finish on most any cookie. Works best on light color cookies, like sugar cookie cutouts. Depending on the color you are going for, you will probably need between 2 and 8 drops of food coloring." Original recipe yield: 1 quarter cup.



Lisa's notes:
Most often, I use small Pyrex custard dishes for this project. I have also used kitchen Dixie cups in the past. Oh, and make the colors a bit darker than you want --- they are lighter n the cookie.

He's holding up pretty good. I've enjoyed his stint on Arrested Development.

And he definitely looks much better than Joanie does these days!

Speaking of Charlies in Charge, did anyone catch the Two and a Half Men Christmas episode where Alan was dating the psycho cooking teacher? That girl was the middle child stuck going through puberty on national television. Boy has she changed!
