Midnite - I can't even imagine!!! My inlaws are great, normal stuff happens like it does in every family, but boy, I can't even imagine how that makes you feel - or your husband feel. Thank God you can understand that she is sick, but it still must stink.

Seriously - Midnite - I am sorry that you have to deal with that!

Although I would not have picked my MIL - I know things could be REALLY bad - she just seems to know how to push my buttons - but then again - I know how to push hers!!!

Hey Deb -

your kids and mine have the same diet (except the mayo sandwich)

I LOVE Miracle Whip- I used to take bologna and smother it in Miracle Whip and eat it (that was my favorite thing as a kid!!!)

I am a very picky eater too!

Seafood makes me throw up - the smell, the taste all of it - I call it an allergy b/c it's easier to explain and no one tries to convince me that I haven't had the RIGHT seafood (my in-laws insist this is why I don't like Chinese) and in my opinion if everytime you eat a food you throw up - you probably have some sort of allergic reaction to it!!

anyway - when I pregnant with Julia - I was sick the WHOLE time - like I lost 25 pounds while I was pregnant with her (at the end of the pregnancy I was up ten pounds and two weeks later - weighed 25 pounds less than the day I conceived her)

we went to visit my in-laws at Long Boat Key near Sarasota and I told DH - if you all want to go to a seafood restaurant - please go - but PLEASE do not ask me to go with you - the smell will be too overwhelming to me and I will not enjoy it but I don't want to stop you from going - I'll be damned if within an hour of arriving I emerge from puking in the bathroom and he says to me - "Mom and Dad want to go to a seafood restaurant for dinner" (in front of them) "and we will sit outside so the smell won't bother you - is that okay?" what else could I do but go?

I was delightful - ate my steak - which you all know that steak at a seafood restaurant is overpriced and not always so good b/c it's not seafood and never said a word - the times that the smell of seafood overcame me and I had to go to the bathroom and throw up - I didn't even tell them - I decided to be gracious

last time I EVER do that - fast forward to the next night and we were out for the day and WITHOUT even asking they pull into a seafood restaurant for dinner - that night I was less than delightful - every time someone walked by me with a plate of fish - I gagged and ran from the table to the bathroom - during dinner my DH asked how my steak was and I said fine considering - and stopped - he knew how pissed I was and said - considering they really specialize in fish here - I said Yep - he told me later that they just assumed it was okay with me b/c I was fine the night before -

I learned my lesson then - to never be polite and let my in-laws think something is okay with me!!

I also hate all seafood. I was sick for my entire pregnancies (x3) and it wasn't morning sickness it was all day sickness. I also have a hatred for onions. Don't like the texture, taste or smell.

I tend to be a little like Polyanna. But we have such a good time here that it is like family members having a party with the joking and kiding and teasing.

You think you have MIL woes? Oh, to have your problems!

My MIL is insane. Literally.

She send mail to us with the names "Judas" for DH and either "Bi***" or "Ho" or "Gold-digger" for me. (Where's my gold!?!?! I feel gypped lol) She sends things from my husband's childhood (like photographs) with her insane ramblings written on it in red marker about how he betrayed his parents by moving to Alabama to be with me and stuff.

She's written on envelopes that she wishes our house would burn down with everyone in it. She's never seen her grandchildren. She didn't even know about our two boys til this year. The only time she has ever been to our city is when she came down here to try and get me in trouble with the police. They saw her for what she is though, totally nuts.

She's said things in the past to my DH like "I wish I could slit your throat and watch you bleed all over the carpet." I'm not making this up! I've never even met her in person because she hates me with a vengance.

I almost feel sorry for her. There's no way she isn't insane. God help her.

ETA: Almost forgot, she also sent photocopied, anonymous letters to my entire neighborhood saying awful things about me. Some neighbors showed me the letter, it was her distinctive handwriting.

You win, although my SIL might be a close second. Good thing you don't live too close or I'd be worried.

Hey Deb - the only time I lost weight was when I was pregnant! I gained weight toward the end because I was on bedrest for 10 weeks, but I gained 8 pounds, of which Matt was 7 lbs. 9 oz. I swear it was the best I looked toward the end... but pregnancy is far more difficult than most people realize. I'm just glad I was able to do it!!

No one that was around me during my pregnancies can understand why I would do it 3 times. While I vomited for 8 months with each of them I made up for it by constantly eating. I gained 60 lbs with the first, 30 with the second and God only knows how many with the third. The doctors didn't understand it either, but preeclampsia causes a lot of bloating and I looked like the blueberry girl from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. My doctors told me not to get pregnant again as I might not survive. Vomiting makes you lose potassium and I needed 18 bolases (spelling?) before they could induce me with the youngest. Apparently if I had been male I would have died. Of course if I was male I wouldn't have vomited for 8 straight months.

talking about SIL. She is a total fruitcake. Hate to get into religion, but she had our kids all upset--oldest son even went to the hospital with an Asthma attack. When DH went to her to ask just respect our stand and we will respect your stand, She yelled that she was going to pray to God that he condems us to he@@.
When we were coming together for the first year anniversary of my DH's brother's death, she swore that he was coming back. Thank goodness my SIL --his widow knew she was crazy so she asked "should I bring a suit for him to change into?" She has not attended any function and probably will not. She even was so very angry when a cousin had passed away from cancer saying she deserved what she got.
