I have a cute idea for blankets that you use fleece but cut the edges and tie them,,,makes a cute blanket
Do you have a picture or can you explain in detail?

OK, ya'll tell me if I've gone off the deep end here...but...what do ya'll think of these being part of the favors?

THey're Sniff tissues. I hear they're "the" thing to carry in your purse
A store near us has the penguins and snowmen and they're not Christmas oriented in any way. They're about $1.40 a pack.

Anyway, these were suggested to me because what preschooler doesn't have a runny nose in February :teeth:

I just had to share this! My sister (12) loves drawing, and has recently started playing around with the programs on the computer. Well, I was wondering recently if she was all that excited about the trip.... and she sent me this in an email:

Those tissues are cute! My kids always keep a small pack of tissues in their backpacks and one in their desk (in elementary school). I think that those would go over very well.

My mom and my dd made one of those fleece blankets that you cut and tie the edges together several years ago. It is cute, and she still loves it.

I was in dollar tree yesterday and they had those micro shrunk washclothes. You know the ones that are tiny until you get them wet. They had some packaged as snowmen and they had snowmen designs when they are wet. They were very cute, I think Santa may be bringing some to my boys. :rotfl:
Our Dollar Tree had them near the registers.

FYI they also had Cinderella boxed crayons and stamp sets.

Thanks, I think they would be cute too. Of course I'd have other things to go with them, but I would buy them for DS. I try not to give favors that the parents will just throw in the garbage so I'm loving the ideas that I'm getting for useful things :goodvibes

I'm anxious to know more about this blanket now. I need pictures, though. I'm a visual person.

I'm going there either later today or tomorrow so I'll look for them. Thanks!

This is totally OT, but I really need the help of our creative DDA's.

I need ideas for DS's birthday party. All of you Northerners please don't laugh at me :) .

Anyway, his birthday is in February (he'll be 5) and we're having a snow party.

I love this idea -- give me some time, I'll come up with some good stuff.

I am going to Michaels tomorrow, if you would like me to check there. I would be glad to buy it and ship it to you if you want, and if they have it.
I found it today at AC Moore, but I appreciate you offering. Thank you.

We love to camp during the summer and are always looking for new campgrounds to try out. As we are thinking about where to camp this summer I was wondering if any other New Englanders like to camp and if maybe we could do a little DDA meet somewhere. So any campers out there?

Deb

Brendita - Just wanted to pass along my good thoughts to you and your DH. I'm glad to hear that you are starting to talk and hopefully you will be able to work things out. Best of luck to you and your family.

The store Claire's (accesories for girls) has them all the time too! They are cute!

I don't own any camping stuff, but "go in" on camping with friends! I am the one that comes and stays with you. I love it, but DH isn't into it, so no RV. Although he does want to get one someday, when we can afford it.

Is this a NO sew thing? If so I am IN!!!

Happy Thanksgiving and stay safe to all those who are travelling. We are leaving tomorrow morning for Pittsburgh, to my folks house. This will be the first major holiday since my grandma has passed away (July). She was 90 and the Matriarch of our family. My aunt and uncle won't be there either as he is suffering from cancer and not doing well. So it will only be my parents and us. I'm sure it will be hard for my mother. We aren't even having a whole turkey....just a turkey breast. I told my mom to do whatever was easiest for her. Anyway, just wanted to pass on good thoughts to all of you dear friends for a healthy and happy holiday. Also, happy shopping to those of you brave enough to fight the crowds.

hey Kate...

I need a good script font.. you got any links for me?

Anyway, his birthday is in February (he'll be 5) and we're having a snow party. A company brings a machine and blows snow on the ground. This is more than I would normally spend on a party so I need cheap ideas for favors, decorations, etc (especially favors).

This is what I have so far:

I'm making a snowman cake and we'll have cake and hot chocolate. I'm putting out marshmallows, crushed peppermints and whipped cream in the can for the hot chocolate.

I'm thinking about putting a white tablecloth on the cake table and then using snowmen and fake snow to go down the middle. I'm hoping to find snowman plates, napkins, etc. (that don't have anything Christmas on them) on clearance after Christmas. I'll also get blue, white and maybe silver balloons. I can also decorate with snowflakes cut out of paper.

We'll make snow angels, have snowball fights, and maybe a few other games.

For favors the ideas I've had or have been suggested to me are:

chapstick (cool, flavored)
slipper socks
snowmen cups with straws
cutting scarves out of fleece
stickers/pencils with snowmen

What do ya'll think of this and do you have anything you would change or add? I really need cute, cheap ideas for favors. We rarely get snow, so I'm really excited about the party. DS can't stop talking about it and it's still 3 months away!

We're inviting girls and boys, ranging mainly from 4-6 years old. I'd really like to give the same favors to girls and boys, so I'm hoping for ideas that are gender neutral.

I know everyone is busy and getting ready for Thanksgiving, but I'd appreciate any ideas or suggestions ya'll could give!!!

When my kids were little, we'd fill squirt bottles with water and a few drops of food coloring and they would draw pictures in the snow. They loved to do this! Maybe your kids would enjoy doing this at the party too?!?!?!?

P.S. Just had Chick-fil-a for lunch...yummy!!!!

Amy - you are one cruel woman. We only had Chick-fil-a once on vacation. I actually went to the website the other night to find out the closest one is 85 miles away. I know one place I will be going for Christmas shopping this year!

disneyeveryyear If someone asked this already, forgive me. But that milkshake...is it really full to the top?! THAT WHOLE THING?!

My husband was like this when he saw that picture :earseek: (I think he secretly wants one...) :teeth:

They actually placed two glasses of shake in the bottom and gave him a big straw, but it sure looked like it, didn't it? :rotfl2: So he actually had 3 milkshakes for his $4.79. Not too bad!

Thanksgiving will be at my house on Thursday. DH, DKs and I will be hosting, DM, DSister, DNiece, DBIL, SIL and 2 nieces (no D here). We will do turkey, ham, mashed potatoes, green beans and corn. DM bringing dressing and deviled eggs (DH thinks no holiday is complete without them), DS is in charge of noodles and rolls, SIL bring pies bought at work. After lunch we go to our local festival of trees and then off to Harry Potter movie. This is our tradition.

Glynis - I am sure your turkey will be wonderful. If you need any help, let me know. My best tip to you is to cook it in a roaster over if you have one. Congratulations on your weight loss. I have contemplated GB myself, but just can't bring myself to do it. I have an awesome recipe for lo-carb cheesecake that I absolutely love. No one can even tell it's lo-carb. Once again, great job on the 26 lbs.
