Deb -- prayers and PD for your dad.

Amy and family -- Congratulations!

Brendita -- Stay strong! Sounds like you are making good decisions.

Jennifer -- glad your computer problem was solved -- good luck on the exams.

To all who sent PD my husband's way on his job search -- he's in the final running for the job -- they are checking his references, so maybe all the DDA Pixie Dust was just what we needed! Thanks again!

Marci

Marci, good luck to your husband. I don't check references until I am ready to hire. Sounds good!! :grouphug:

I was going to ask you the same question. For the same reason we will never eat at Sonny Eclipse (Cosmic Rays) ever again. Could be coincidence, but I'm not taking the chance.

Yes, it's unfortunate - I still won't eat spaghetti from a certain episode from when I was 3!!!

At SFD, I had the burger, and DH had the chili and a reuben sandwich. His meal in hindsight just sounds like a disaster waiting to happen!! :crazy2: I didn't have it nearly as bad as he did.

We did share a lot of the same things at AP the night before, but it would have likely hit us earlier.

I think it is great :rotfl:

OK, I've been working on my song lyrics for my dad. I'm sure that he'll get a good laugh out of this, especially if he's still getting the morphine.

Grandpa got run over by a freight train
Haulin dirt out of Twin State’s Gravel Pit.
You can say there’s no such thing as bad luck,
But as for me and Grandma we believe.

He’d spent all day Saturday in the ER,
Having trouble just trying to breathe.
They sent him home with Prednisone and inhalers,
And soon he felt the symptoms were relieved.

When he got up Monday morning,
Off to work he did go.
He drove his truck right into the sand pit,
And what would happen next he didn’t know.

Grandpa got run over by a freight train
Haulin dirt out of Twin State’s Gravel Pit.
You can say there’s no such thing as bad luck,
But as for me and Grandma we believe.

He checked both his mirrors at the crossing,
But that big old train he did not see.
He started to drive over the crossing,
And wound up with no short term memory.

We heard that the train almost missed him,
If he’d only had his foot down to the floor.
He’d have never had the car crash,
And won’t have been dragged out of the door.

Grandpa got run over by a freight train
Haulin dirt out of Twin State’s Gravel Pit.
You can say there’s no such thing as bad luck,
But as for me and Grandma we believe.

The Paramedics say he’s very lucky,
Left only with a brain bleed and stiff neck.
Not many people count themselves survivers,
When they tangle with a train that ends in wreck.

Now he lays there trying to remember,
Why didn’t he see that big freight train?
He’s all doped up on morphine,
And all he can remember is the pain.

Grandpa got run over by a freight train
Haulin dirt out of Twin State’s Gravel Pit.
You can say there’s no such thing as bad luck,
But as for me and Grandma we believe.

Obviously it's to the tune of "Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer".

What do you all think?

Deb

He should laugh like crazy. I did. :rotfl: :rotfl2:

Thanks for changing it Baloo - I just think some newbies might have been overwhelmed before. I'm off to bed. Matt woke up about 11 and is having trouble breathing but said his ear is a little better. He's now in the king bed with Skunka and I'm off to the guest room.

Later!

Then, I'm sure you'll be okay sans the winter coats!

Whew, I think I am caught up! I can't remember everything from the over 100 pages I had to read today, but glad that everyone is relatively healthy and happy. I wished I had checked this thread while we were at the World, as I could have purchased you all sets of the Xmas Mickey ears! They were very cute - there were lots of other options, too. I bought a headband with Minnie ears with a sequined Santa hat between them!

For all of you going soon - how fabulous everything looks! I am envious - our trip wasn't all we thought it would be, unfortunately. SWA lost my suitcase for about 8 hours, our 1st night's sleigh ride at the WL got rained (no, poured!) out, and promptly after stepping inside the gates for the MVMCP on our 2nd night, DH had to head back to the WL with what turned out to be food poisoning! 6 hours later, we were in the ER for him, where I promptly began exhibiting the same symptoms! Needless to say, we saw more of the inside of our hotel room than I ever thought (or hope to see again!) on a WDW trip. We lost about 3 days - I just have to keep reminding myself that at least it wasn't a once-in-a-lifetime trip for us, and DH has already agreed that we will have to go back over the holidays soon in the coming years to experience everything properly!

I am now an expert on how to get to Celebration Hospital at midnight, where the 3 closest Walgreens are to WDW, and what CM's will do to assist you in getting over food poisoning. Here's hoping that none of you have to call on my expertise! :goodvibes

(And why, oh why, did you guys go through all the DVC stuff? I had no idea they were running these specials! DH has already agreed we will buy in sometime - now I'm wondering if we can do so sight unseen before Jan! :rotfl: )

Aww tinkeroo. I'm so sorry your trip wasn't as magical as you wanted it to be. We got rained out of our MVMCP in 2002. It bucketed. :rotfl: Sounds like what it did for your sleigh ride. :guilty:

So glad you are all feeling better now. :grouphug:

Yeah I'm still caught up!! At least y'all are hushed up a bit :teeth: ...I'm reading Denise's trip report and waiting for another cup of tea in the microwave.

OKay I tweaked the name of this thread a bit as suggested...

***Disney Design Addict's Chit Chat,Designs and Pixie Dust! Everybody WELCOME!***

That about covers it all,eh?! ;) I couldn't add the "P" word might piss people off! :earboy2:

That was ME!!!! I am just now getting caught up on this board and I saw your post. I'm so sorry we didn't stop to say hello, but we had to run to Turtle Talk with Crush. My DH was holding a spot for us while I took my kids on Soarin'. He called as we were leaving The Land and said the line was moving and if we didn't run we weren't going to make it in time for the show. Luckily we did make it because when we came out the line was soooo long and they were saying it was a 70 minute wait. It was so crowded that day. And you're right.....it was FREEZING that morning. I'm glad I made some sweatshirts. It was great running into you even though we didn't have a chance to chat. Your wedding photos are just lovely and I loved your bride ears!! Congratulations on your wedding.

Hooray! I had so much fun playing spot the DDA design on holiday and I saw so many of your family that day I had taken to staring to work out who you were! DH thought I was very funny :)
I couldn't believe how busy it was at Epcot - we'd been the week before and in comparison there was no one there - we didn't get to do crush - we had just come from there when we saw you and with there being no kids in our party just couldn't justify the wait! We were off to use our FPs at soarin.

I loved your sweatshirts - wish I'd made some as in the last week no one got to see my tees as they were always hidden by a sweater!

Glad you liked my ears - I got so much attention wearing them I loved every minute of it :goodvibes

Thanks for letting me know who you were!

Clare

I'm 8 pages behind, so I need to go back and read. I need a little pixie dust tonight. My Dad drives a dump truck and was hit by a freight train earlier today. The details are sketchy, it appears that the train only hit the last foot of the truck. It is a blind intersection. He has absolutely no recollection of the accident. He remembers eating lunch then he remembers being in the ambulance. We don't think he lost consciousness as someone helped him get out of the truck which was rolled over on the drivers side. He apparently stood there looking at the truck and talking to 3 guys until the ambulance got there, but he doesn't remember any of it. They still have him in a neck brace as radiology hasn't cleared his neck yet and that is where he is having a lot of pain. He also has a small brain bleed. They said that it is the smallest you can have that would show up. They are keeping him overnight and will do another CAT scan in the morning. It appears he was very lucky. Hopefully tonight will go well. Best case scenerio he has severe whiplash. The freight train was 25 cars long and they were loaded with road salt. Dad was driving a 10 wheeler which was fully loaded with sand. The impact flipped the truck. It is probably a good thing that he can't remember. This happened sometime between 12:30 and 1 this afternoon. I got a call around 2 and have been at the hospital since. He is in good spirits now (I think the morphine helps) and has been talking and even laughing during the evening. The owner of the truck came in and they were cracking jokes for the whole visit. Hopefully the bleed won't get worse and all will be ok. We spent from 3 PM - 8 PM in the emergency room then he was moved to a room. I will go back up in the morning to check on him.

I think that I need to write a song about this: "Grandpa Got Runover By a Freight Train" I'm sure that he would think that it was funny if the kids sang it to him. :rotfl:

I have to keep a positive outlook. Thanks for listening.
