I have a t-shirt request.. I actually sent it out a few days ago in a REALLY long "intro" e-mail LOL.. and was not very specific .... but I was wondering if one of you could come up with a stitch halloween deisgn for me... we're going to MNSSHP on Oct 11... my B-day is Oct 12 and DH's is Oct 16th.. so I'd love to have those thrown in there.. maybe something like Dylan and Christy's Halloween Birthday Bash Oct 2005.... who knows... I'd love to see what you guys can come up with.. I'm playing around in Photoshop.. but havne't come up with anything nearly of the quality you guys have yet. Another question... is there any way to edit something that I downloaded off the internet in Photoshop.... such as one of the designs here that I want to put our names in.... Trying to figure out how to do that.. does anyone know??

I haven't made my shirts yet so this my be a silly question but if we wash them before we transfer (to get rid of any stain resist etc) why do we have to wash them again after the transfer?? Surely they're still clean?
I think what we are learning from all the cracking after washing/drying is after you make your shirts, DO NOT wash them again until after your WDW trip. This way they will still be in good shape for your vacation and then after if they fall apart, who cares??

Quick question... I just finished my first shirt attempt in PS Elements... actually I stole someone else's from here and tweaked it a bit (can't remember who the original artist was.. but it has the castle w/ tink on a blue background w/ a "clear glass" mickey head with a pic of the castle and mickey and minnie on it) I'd love to post a pic of it on here to show you guys.. but how do I post images? Can't get it to work.
Thanks!!!

That is awesome. I am so happy   :cool1: :cool1:   . You have made my day and I've only been up for 1 1/2 hours. Woo Hoo....

Edited to add that I am so envious of your talents. What program did you use? Did you make the design from scratch or were you able to break the original into layers. I am living vicariously through you. Are you able to make the other 3?

Thanks again.

I've seen a few people post that they are having trouble with their designs cracking after washing. We made several shirts last year and they have been worn 20+ times with no cracking. The larger ones were done with the Avery for light shirts. We did some navy blue shirts with a small design on the shoulder/breast area that also have not cracked. While making shirts for this trip I did a tye dye one for my ds2 and put a design on the front using the Avery Dark T-shirt Transfers. I didn't really like the design on the Tye Dye shirt so I've been letting him wear it around home. He loves it and I have washed it at least 5 times with no cracking. We tye dyed the shirts, rinsed them, washed them with tide and completely dried them in the dryer. I applied the design following the instructions on the Avery package. I washed it inside out by itself after he wore it the first time and completely dried it in the dryer. Since then it goes in with the regular wash. I wash everything on hot and dry everything completey in the dryer. The T-shirt that I used this year was one of the Fruit of the Loom undershirts that come in a 3 pack at Walmart for 3.73. The Tye Dye colors still look great (kit came from Walmart also) and the designs are also holding up well. I wonder if the laundry detergent you use has anything to do with it? I use Tide with Downy in it and no problems here. I hope this might help someone from having potential problems.

Oh yeah, I ironed my shirts on my craft table (got mine at Ames years ago, but have seen them at JoAnn's) with a pillow case doubled up between the shirt and table.

Just wanted to say that I LOVE this "garage" design! You did a great job! :)

I have to say I'm a little disappointed to hear so many people are having problems with the shirts after washing them. :( Unfortunately for me, the answer cannot be -- just wait til your home from WDW to wash it. What a waste! And a shame. :(

I'm wondering what transfer paper member are using that they are having difficulties with. I have never had the opportunity to use the dark t-shirt transfer paper, but I have used Avery's light and have had excellent reults that LAST.

If I go through this effort of making shirts for everyne, I want the shirts to be able to be a memory / souvenier by themselves. KWIM?

Has anyone used that paper you found on Ebay yet? I would like to know how well that works. I missed out on ordering ... but I owuld stil like to know the results.

Thanks!
Lisa

Thanks for the responses about my shirts. It was DH's idea to wash them again before we wore them....he didn't like the way the transfers felt & thought it would do away with the slick feeling of the shirt. OH well........I learned my lesson. I followed the directions & turned them inside out etc. I can't believe they don't hold up better than that. I called my friend who I had made transfers for & told her whatever she did not to wash & dry the shirts until she wore them on their trip. I hadn't washed my SO THIS IS LOVE shirt yet, so I still have that one to wear. :goodvibes

My transfers were Avery brand. Anybody else wash & dry their shirts successfully without damage & if so what brand were your transfers?

Sailors wfe: looks like we will be in WDW at the same time and also for BDs ( mine and my DD who will be 8). We will be going to MNSVSHP on the 7th!

Disneygirl36-I have encountered the same problem on SOME of my homemade shirts and not all of them. And what I don't understand is that I followed the SAME directions when it came to transfer application, washing them prior to ironing on transfer and washing them inside out and hanging them to dry. Still some cracked and some did not. I've used the same brand of t shirts, all white, no colors. I even tried to re-iron, but it didn't do any good. I have not washed any of our trip shirts, so I know they'll look nice while we're there. Oh yeah, and I used Avery transfer paper for each shirt, too. It seems that the darker colored transfer crack easier.

Hi Disneygrl36!

I used 50/50 poly/cotton blend tees from AC Moore. The transfer paper I used was Burlington/Printworks for light & also the one for dark shirts. I washed them first, dried them (air) & then did the transfer. I let the transfer sit at least 30 minutes (per the directions) for the design to set. I used the highest setting on my iron - linen (My iron has never been used so much before! ) I ironed 1 more minute than the directions said just to be sure. All the shirts I did came out very well (to my surprise!) & I have not washed them & will not until after our trip (which is in 10 days! :Pinkbounc ).

The very first shirt I did was a white tee with a Stitch design for my oldest DD. My color cartridge was running out of ink & I didn't like how faded it looked so I gave it to her to wear as a P.J. top...well, she wears it every night & it has been washed at least 20 times since then & it has held up very well. No cracking & it has become softer. (Goes in regular wash on warm & I air dry on a hanger). I think the white shirts don't crack as much. It's more of a possibilty with the dark because the transfers are more like a big sticker on the shirt & seems thicker..I am afraid to fold them to pack them for fear of cracking..the white transfers seem to become more part of the shirt than the dark transfers do.

I used photoshop. Pasted your image into a layer and erased the background. Then I re-outlined everything and recolored to make the base design without the words and dwarf. (This is what takes the most time, I have to zoom in on the image and erase some of the background that wasnt erased automatically and carefully trace it with the paintbrush to make the outline and recolor.)

Once that was done, I now have a good base image that I can add anything to. I will work on the other 3 for you. :flower:

Brendita & Moonbeams--

Thank you all so much for helping find Lumpy designs! I LOVE them! Brendita, could you send me the one of Lumpy pulling Pooh & pals with his trunk? I don't know what it should say--we are leaving in a week & 3 days (there's just me & DH), and I thought it would be cute to say something about our trip, but I'm just not in a creative way today! :goodvibes I also LOVE  the Halloween one! Would you please send it to me? I don't know how to do that--could you put it as one of your designs on the design page so I could get to it? I am very techno-illiterate when it comes to this sort of thing, so just let me know what way is best!

Thanks again! BTW, do the person who said they decorated their entire house for Halloween this weekend--THAT'S AWESOME! I am trying to get DH to pull down the Halloween box this evening! Wish me luck! :teeth:

Hopefully you guys can help me out here...

Somewhere in the clip art following the links off of the first post on the Design Tips thread, I came across clip art of a purple castle. I think it was probably grouped together with Cinderella somewhere.

Well now I am searching for it and I can't come accross it! It's driving me nuts! :badpc:

Anyone recall seeing it and have any idea where?

I know it's a major longshot, but I figure someone may have seen it!

Thanks,

hey cassi -

look what I just found in my saved clipart - when I see an element I like I save it to my design element folder - I knew I had seen what you wanted but couldn't find it yesterday -

but today I was looking in my folder and...

Sorry! I should have remembered that clipart. I used it in this design I made for my DD.
