Hi Guys...

Well it happened. I joined this board a few months ago to help plan with my vacation in October....and it was invaluable. It was my first trip to Disney in about 23 years, and my kids first trip.

I wondered about some of you though....I thought "How could these people keep returning to Disney over and over?"

Sadly now I know...

Today is my first day back at work. I have been immersed in everything Disney since May....now I'm like a little lost puppy.

How do you guys get yourselves from one Disney trip to the next? Do I start planning immediately?

If I have time later today I'll put together a trip report

Im experiencing some Disney Depression myself. I just got back on September 25th, and will be returning for 10 days in January... BUT.... Im really depressed that I cant go back over Thanksgiving this year. :( We have been there 3 times over Thanksgiving, and the past 2 in a row. This year my girls wanted to twirl in the big parade in Pittsburgh Thanksgiving weekend, so we went in September instead ( and got free dining too..woohoo)

Ive involved myself in a few threads giving my input on thanksgiving and MVMCP topics, and now, IM just down right depressed that I cant go walk down Main Street in the snow, or see all of the beautiful Christmas decorations, or hear the Epcot Storytellers, or see the Osboure Lights, etc.

PLanning my upcoming January trip is helping a LITTLE BIT... but not much. So I told the girls.. we WILL go back next year at Thanksgiving!! They can still twirl that Saturday, but after that, we are heading straight for the airport and coming to Disney. I dont even care if its just for 3 days... IM GOING BACK for the Christmas stuff!!!

bah... Im still a tad depressed about this year. Lets have a :grouphug: for all those depressed!!

Yes! Plan!!!

I didnt feel better until I booked a quickie-mini trip for the end of January.

I checked out Octover 3rd, got back October 4th and called CRO and booked for January on October 5th! :teeth:

Tomorrow i will be in double digits! :woohoo:

We are only able to go every other year. I always go through the Disney Depression after our trip starting on the way home. I get through it by reading these boards especially trip reports and living through other people's trips. I also begin planning our next trip really early, that helps some. Sadly there is no cure. :sad2:

I get disney depressed too. I think it does help to plan. The boards help alot. I love putting disney into my everyday life. We talk about our next trip. We play disney games at home. I am planning alot of our christmas gifts to be disney related. I think the lady at our DS is getting tired of seeing me. I am convinced that she is thinking "why is this grown woman here so much?".

Let me know if I can help. I am here, like all the time (to cope).

Do you need BOO'd?

I got back a week ago from a fab trip on site for two weeks, Pop and POFQ!!! I've also made a promise that I'm not going back for 5 years - how depressed am I?
Serious case of PDB (post disney blues)

I want to know what the chances are you that you can really wait FIVE years to go back... :rotfl2: I cant wait 5 months!!!!!

Exactly the same boat as you. Not going again for 5 years. If I could book it right now I would because we already know the dates and everything. I had terrible depression for about two weeks after we returned (we were there 9/23 - 9/30/06). It is just now starting to get better. I put in our video this weekend and I had to stop watching it because I started crying. I just need to get further away from this trip and I think I will be fine but September 2011 is sure a long ways away.

Ironically, I don't suffer from Disney Depression upon return....I'm the opposite, I can't consider going again for a year.... I think if my kids were older, it would be different....but 13 days in WDW and surrounding areas with a 1yr, 3yr, 9yr, and 10yr old (all boys)...does me in. Maybe when they're older and a little more independent I'll get the depression.... :)

Despite going with a 5 year old and 2 year old...I still want to go back. Especially Fantasyland. :) My 5 year old could spend all day going from Test Track to Mission Space (Green) to Soarin.

the chance is the same as me wearing size double-zero and giving up smoking! ie, 2 hopes, Bob and none :rotfl2:

That sinking feeling always hits me right after a trip too. We can swing about one trip per year, but sometimes I wish we could go more.

Well I'll get there before you - my dates are March 2011!

Maybe you can book your trip five years out. What's the current policy? Way back when, we booked our Millennium New Year trip years ahead. You'll only need the one night deposit on your credit card, and you could cancel if something changes between now and then. If you hope to use a special rate, though, then you'll have to wait.

I know what you mean. I just returned from WDW last monday on Columbus day and already planning my february trip. I have made alot of trips in the past year (8 since April) but we built a home down there so i had plenty of excuses to go back more often. (thank goodness for jetblue!) I find as I get older (48) I want to go to WDW more often even though my kids are 17 and 21. Disney is definetly addicting!

My most recent trip was 9/27/06-10/3/2006 and I felt kinda of blue when we got back home. I missed New York....the sound of the trains, city buses, the cars with the booming systems, my pooch......but as soon as we got to our apartment, it hit me. Back to the routine of getting up in the morning, dressing the kids for school, worrying about them, keeping track of the bills, going to the supermarket, running errands, etc. :sad2:

I can't speak for the rest of my family but Disney broke that routine to the point where all we had was FUN! We didn't have to worry about any of that when we were there.

I am doing much better and I do occassionally think back to our trip. Our next trip isn't till 2008 unfortunately. But until then I will be here with you guys. This DIS forum helps.

I can totally relate. Got back on 10/7/06 and haven't even been on the boards much because its to painful. My family knows now that when I get back its going to be hard for a few weeks. I haven't really even unpacked because if I do that then I have to put the suitcases away and then it means its over.
Trying to get DH to start talking about next years trip....I hope it is sooner then later.

Try some Disney music therapy and of course pop in a planning video...but only when you are ready. Take baby steps...

Feeling your Disney pain,
pixie chick

HAHA! :rotfl2:

I am reading these and just thinking to myself, wow that is so me!

What I do between trips, (I only go about once a year :guilty: ) I go to disneysuite.com and look at all the pics and give myself a "mini mind vacation", by doing this I am able to look at the pics and imagine I am there.

Okay now I sound totally insane! :rotfl:
