Disney decorating!

I am in the process of making my bedroom a Tinkerbell room :goodvibes

DH said I could decorate the house anyway I want to, but little did he know that I wanted a Tinkerbell room.. We just painted the walls a light purple last weekend and the windowsills, doors and trim are a lighter lime green version.. all the bedding is green with a little green rug.. all my Tink decorations are up.. I am looking for some pictures to decorate the walls still.. hopefully I will be done decorating soon and I will be sure to take a picture and share..

Great bathroom! May I ask about the wall paint colors you used? Are they the actual Disney colors from Home Depot? If so, would you share the actual color names? My husband picked up some Mickey Head paint chips tonight at HD for our home office yet it is so hard to decide with allthe different shades of each color available! And why do paint chips have to be so darn small?!

Cool bathroom!

I'm doing a Mickey B-room this summer - just picked up some stuff at a great price at disneyshopping for it!

mookie, where did you find those Mickey head knobs??!

This thread has turned out great everyone!...thanks for sharing all your ideas and pics!!

No need to stop now...! Keep it up!:thumbsup2

I have Disney in literally every single room of my house.

The girls both have Disney rooms
The playroom is a Disney room

The downstairs bathroom is a bright red Mickey bathroom

Every other room has Disney pieces here and there nicely displayed.

My Godmother recently gave me one of the nicest compliments I ever received. She told me that I have "the happiest house she's ever been in" That compliment blew me away - that made me feel so good!!!!

What an appropriate thread! We just bought a house and I'm coming up with decorating ideas. I think I want to make the downstairs powder room Disney. I want to get the attraction posters (sold in DTD at the art gallery) and hang those along with some pictures of us at WDW, my Mickey lamp, etc. It's a work in progress, but we'll get there. :)

I tried looking to see if we still have some paint left, but we don't. I remember buying a gallon of each, and we used it all - each of the yellow and red walls took 2 coats or more. We did it a few years ago, so I'm going by memory. I know we used the Mickey/Disney colors at Home Depot. The red I know is true to Mickey, but I think the Yellow we used is either from Buzz Lightyear or from Donald Duck (I want to say Buzz Lightyear for some reason...) The black is standard black, just in semi-gloss to stand out.

The knobs actually came from the Disney Home store when it was down in Orlando. When we were down there on a trip 3 years ago, I picked everything up then. I love them, except the screws aren't always good, and become stripped easily, so the heads tend to turn. Not sure if you'd still be able to find them? I have a stain on one of the white towels with the Mickey head, and I've been trying online to find a replacement, but so far, no luck. Orlando doesn't have the big home store anymore, but there is a small section in the World of Disney I believe.

Love your bathroom -- it looks almost identical to mine! Mine is all yellow -- but now I may want to paint one wall red -- (DH will kill me). I wanted to ask if the Mickey Heads and Hands were painted on or are they wallies? That would be a great touch to my bathroom as well.

I had to laugh -- great minds think alike -- I have the same shower curtain, the same stuffed Mickey and Minnie, the same bathmat. Would you believe my cabinet and countertop is even the same! My knobs are different however -- they are the faces of Mickey ones from disneyshopping.com.

I would love to see your "happy home". It sounds just like what I am looking for and I am a visual learner, so it would really help me.

Thanks.

I LOVE the bathroom!!!!! I wish I could have a Disney room... DH would put his foot down to that one right now... I did say when we move, I was going to turn one of the spare bedrooms into a Mickey room and he just shook his head at me. Just don't understand his reluctance do you :confused3

my sister decorated my nephew's room in classic pooh. it was ADORABLE.
i liked it more than the baby :rotfl:
she painted the walls in the yellow and green. this pooh carpet and 34357905 stuffed animals. the crib had a classic pooh quilt, head board cover, lining, sheets, and the twirly thing (i cant quite remember the name :confused3 )
there were even little figurines of classic pooh. we're starting the disney obsession real young :rotfl:
we showed him a stuffed duck and it made him cry, but when we showed him a stuffed tigger he crawled to it!

The red wall definitely makes it - and it's just subtle enough to work. I would only do one wall though....did you also use the Buzz Lightyear yellow?

The heads and hands are stamps from Home Depot. Actually, they were a total pain! I'm so glad it came out and was worth all the work. The first time I stamped them on, they didn't cover very well, so I ended up filling them all in by hand with a small brush!!!

Thanks for the response. I might have to head to Home Depot.
My yellow is from Lowes -- did it about 3 years ago. I have the huge classic Mickey poster framed and I had Lowes color match the yellow in the poster -- it is really LOUD!

Well - I don't have photos (yet) but here's my other Disney decor:
(1) Mickey bathroom
(2) DD has a princess bedroom with a castle mural painted on the wall
(3) I have 8 vintage Disney LP album covers framed and hanging in hallway
(4) Mickey stands guard at the bottom of my front porch stairs
(5) I have Mickey plane crazy lamp & desk accessories at my office
(6) A pretty good size Stitch collection
(7) I also have a Mickey doorbell - but DH hasn't yet installed it.

I have some Disney pictures and knick knacks around the house. I don't have any pictures of them. My big obsession is Christmas ornaments. Here is a picture of my Disney tree.

I tried to post this earlier, but it didn't work apparently. Hmmm...

Tarazandra-I love your Haunted Mansion doorbell! Where did you find that?

OOPS! Sorry everyone-now I see it. So sorry!

I had one in my old house. No room for one here.

The old house, I had the DR as my Disney room. Painted white with the Mickey film strip border around the top of the room. I had a shelf around the top of the windows (big old house with TALL windows) that I sat all my big collectibles on like my cookie jars and all that stuff.
I loved it :thumbsup2

It used to be a formal dining room:

Livingroom (at xmas , but you get the idea)

Disney has made a home for it's self throughout our whole house....these are just the pics I could find in a hurry.

I love the idea of a checkered floor in a Disney room. :thumbsup2 I am toying with the idea of black & white with a red tile "here & there" for our home office that we are redoing in a Disney theme. Just can not find the red ones anywhere. :sad2:
