First timer here going in late October. Does Disney accept debit cards or it is just charge to your resort/park card (i.e. one of my credit cards) or cold hard cash? I'm trying to take all the planning in and I think my head might explode! Thanks for any info you can pass along.

I use my debit card or pay with cash :thumbsup2

They take debit everywhere in the world. I use debit or my disney visa.:goodvibes
ENJOY!

Disney accepts just about anything - Cash, Checks ( of limited amount ), debit cards, credit cards, Disney Gift Cards and Disney Dollars.

Plus travelers checks and charging to your room. They want your money, in whatever form you have it!

we have always used our debit card at check in and then used it on our Key to the World card at the parks. This year to be extra safe, i am probably going to get one of the new Visa credit giftcards. It's used like a credit card only much safer.

This is exactly my thinking that prompted my question. I should have known they'd take my money anyway they can get it! Thanks for the reply

Thanks for the replies - the really helped.

Disney will only accept a debit card if it has a Visa or Mastercard logo on it. As other have posted, Disney accepts pretty much any type of payment, so whatever is most convenient for you is what you should take.

Enjoy your vacation!

Just an FYI to you, we used my husbands debit card back in April and his card number was stolen at one of the (Disney) restaurants that we visited. -They then went and withdrew money out of our account. This trip we only used cash or our Disney Visa. NEVER the card that is linked to our bank account. We got is straightened out as a fraud account, but it was a hassle after our vacation.

I am sorry to hear about your theft! That really stinks!

But... I have to tell others, if you DO use your Visa debit card or Visa charge card, you HAVE PROTECTION. If you lose your card, or like the above post states of someone stealing the card number... you DO get your money back.

HOWEVER... if you use cash and you lose it or it is stolen... it is just GONE.

I don't know about the Visa gift cards, BUT the debit cards... you do have some type of protection, even if it is a hassle once you get home.

This has happened to me before, my cash was GONE... but what was charged on my Visa debit card was all put back.

Just something to keep in mind. Hope it helps.

We just got back yesterday. We took cash with us and returned with almost all of it.

If you are staying on property, it truly is easiest to just use your room keycard to pay for everything (food, shopping, drinks, everything) anywhere on property. Then, when you check out, everything is on your room bill. We were a little unsure how this worked when we heard about it prior to our trip and now see just how simple it is (imagine that - Disney making it VERY easy for you to spend $$$! hehe)

In 2006 we used our Visa Debit Cards from our corporate account for our rooms at Beach Club and Boardwalk. I had already paid for packages through Disney Travel so they should just be misc things charged to the rooms. The desk clerk did not apply the hotel voucher to my parents room and every 2 days charged off $1500 for their 2 bedroom villa to our checking account.

The night before they checked out Mom stopped by the desk and got a copy of the bill. She and I spent the rest of the evening at the front desk trying to correct the matter. They finally got everything corrected before I checked out two days later. Or so I thought, a week after I had more charges on my account from the Beach Club.

All of this was very distressing since I had 40 people there for my daughter's wedding and this situation occured the day after the wedding. Disney did work with my bank the next day and came up with a temporary provisional credit so that I would not have a problem when I checked out the next day or my daughter and her husband a few days later.

The lesson I learned here was: I now have a credit card with a $500 limit that I use to check into ANY hotel. The last night of my stay I stop by the desk and pay off my bill using my Visa Check Card. Anything I may charge on the last day of my stay then goes to the credit card I used at checkin.

If you are using a voucher that came in your Disney Travel package, COPY all pages of the document and only give the ORIGINALS to the desk clerk. If there is a problem they will be able to pull the voucher number and confirm this with the Travel Company.

Whenever I stay at a WDW resort, I like the convenience of room charging, so I won't have to carry my credit card or a lot of cash with me everywhere I go.

But I rarely use my credit card to enable room charging. I usually bring travellers checks, Disney Dollars, or a Disney Gift Card with me, and put them down as a deposit to enable room charging. Any leftover balance is refunded to me in cash when I check out.

I do always carry my debit card and a little cash with me for off-site or non-Disney purchases.

I don't carry much cash at all when traveling, so I usually charge everything to my Amex (for the starpoints!).

If I were to charge to the room, it may be a good idea to check the bill daily, just to make sure it is all correct. I've done that on the tv at most resorts, they have an option to check you bill. That way, it's really easy to do, and you can check for errors (sometimes I've found some room service ones, just minor).

Also, if I need some cash, I'll get it from the ATM's located usually inside the resort hotel, or at the parks I'm sure that they may have them. Usually I will have $200, that would take care of snacks, drinks, etc, plus other tips and stuff. Some little snack carts I guess can't take credit cards, though not many.

Hopefully someone could answer this one for me -- could I get room charging added on one key and not the other, or does it automatically go to all the KTTW cards in the party?

You can have it added to only one card if memory serves me right. I seem to remember having charging privileges on my card but not on the boys.
