Disney has released their info for a special offer for the Military! This is a great DEAL! LINK
Offer good till Dec. 19th. Special ticket prices and rooms.

Thanks so much for posting this!!!

Shame Disney haven't extended their offer to coalition forces like BG/SW :(

They have also excluded active reservists again. Only activated reservists with orders qualify. Technically if reservists have orders they can NOT go as they would be serving(overseas or stateside callup!)! Glad we got seasonal passes at no-tax base prices at least:D !

Thank You!
I was wondering if Disney would do this
My husband is coming home from Kuwait in June, and we already booked our trip and were planning on buying AP's
Now I can spend more money on shopping!

We're taking our Grandson the end of June.

Maybe his dad will be back from Kuwait by then and we can all go like we originally planned. THAT would be great!

i know how you feel! My husband has been over there since feb and we were very excited when he got his orders and booked on a plane home.
Hopefully your grandson's dad will be getting the same good news I got, and you will all be able to have a great trip together.
I'm hoping you get a whole lot of pixie dust to make this happen!
He deserves to have some fun with his family!

Well, between this deal and the Fairy Tale Package, it looks like Disney has a shot at filling up its resorts!

Actually, this offer is good for reservists who have been activated during Operation Iraqi Freedom.

We received the information just this week from our son's commanding officer. Our son is a Marine Reservist who has been in Kuwait and Iraq since January.

The exact verbage (which I have in front of me) states that this offer includes activated members of the National Guard and Reservists - and that they are eligible to receive one complimentary 5-Day Disney Armed Forces Salute Ticket. Reservists must show a copy of their active duty orders. Each soldier may also purchase up to five 5-Day Armed Forces Salute Companion Tickets for family members and friends.

On top of this, USAir is offering discounted air fare - $79 each way, based on round trip - for the soldier and his immediate family - which includes wife, children and parents.

According to the email I received, additional information can be found at www.disneyworld.com/military

Of course your son qualifies Patty:D ! The debate(and there IS one on that board!:p ) seems to be over the use of the word "activated" reservists. Your DS was activated. Others(like my dh) were activated for their yearly 2 weeks to train/send troops and then did MANY extra days NOT on orders(many units were allowed to up the number of days troops worked). So, this is the debate. Do the orders for the 2 weeks stateside duty work with WDW or not. Some say they do, the woman I called at WDW said it was worded wrong and we do qualify. Many civilians do not understand the difference such a word can make! We have SP's so it does not really affect us, though DH could let his soldiers know.:D Seaworld offer says "active reservists" which includes drilling reservists(all but the retired!). CM said this is what the WDW offer means, but we all know you get a different answer with each one:rolleyes: :p !

Has anyone received a confirmation that 'active' reservists qualify for this offer. My husband works with a single dad who has 4 kids and he wants to take them to Disney this fall. It should would help him! He is in the reserves but he was not activated. THanks in advance for any info you can provide. Sherry

Sherry,

When I called and spoke to a CM today, she read me the official statement and it stated that the soldier would have to show Active Reservist ID AND a copy of this orders showing that he was activated and served overseas between September 1, 2002 and December 19, 2003.

Hi Patty - I was afraid that was the answer. Thanks Sherry

OK TwinMom, I'm confused now!! LOL

In your other post on this, you didn't mention anything about the orders having to be overseas orders. Many people were activated for Iraqi Freedom, but didn't go overseas.

I am still waiting on an official written reply from WDW on this. The CM I spoke to assured me that as long as DH was not retired, he was eligible. She was a military brat and understands the terminology and laughed at the way they worded it  . She said we did not even need to show orders. Someone on the other forum said they did this last offer(same wording) and were allowed to go with just a reservist card(she took orders from his yearly 2 weeks just in case). No where does it read anything about serving overseas. The way it is worded though, led us to believe we were not included(activated vs active). So who really knows!? I hope to get a response back, I e-mailed WDW 2 days ago. Seaworlds offer is easy to figure out, all active reservist are included in it. Universal is the same lingo as WDW.
DH is doing an extra weekend tomorrow(again! Gotta bring them back now!) and I wanted him to tell others, but we will not unless it is official. I won't hold my breath, and I am thankful we have seasonal passes already!:D

Hi BibbidiBobbidiBoo - Thanks for posting what you have been told. I would appreciate it if you post the response that you receive. My DH's coworker would really benefit as a single parent with 4 kids. SHerry

I shouldn't have used the term "overseas". The CM I spoke with read the statement to me and told me that he would have to provide an Active Reservist ID and a copy of his orders showing that he had been activated between September 1st of 2002 and the end of the offer, which is December 19, 2003.

Sorry for any confusion caused with my "overseas" statement.

No problem TwinMom, I just wanted to make sure I hadn't misread something.

DH and I are both active duty, but we aren't going to be able to go this year, even with the good deal :( but I'm hoping that active Reservists/Guardsmen are able to take advantage of it.

I called to get rates for several resorts using the Military Salute. For 9 nights, the AKL was a little under $1200 for a standard room. The Polynesian was over $2000. We are staying at the Contemporary because the Shades of Green is under construction. We are paying $102.00 per night and that includes tax. Its a little over $900 for the 9 nights. The All Stars was in the $400 range for 9 nights.

We bought Annual Passes last year, so we don't need to purchase them either. That is a good deal that Disney is giving for passes if they are needed.

I wish that Universal was doing the same deal as Sea World where you got a 1 day pass for up to 5 people. Universal is giving a 5 day for the military person and $50 per person for each dependant.

Patty, thanks for the info on the US air ticket to Orlando. I will have to check that out. Dh mentioned that they were giving discounts. I had just bought a ticket to go home to Las Vegas for Labor Day, and had bought it days before he found out about the discounts.

Melanie
