Disney Day of Service

Has anyone reported back on the Special Fastpasses yet? I'd love to know more info on these...thx

I'm planning to get the fastpasses in March. I'll report back then, but hopefully someone else will get there sooner.

I did Project Linus through the central IL chapter and was required to make 2 - 40" X 50" blankets. They also offer an option to make 4 smaller blankets. I am about to head to the post office to mail them now because the drop off location is more than an hour away. If you are interested, try searching on 61820.

Thank you to the poster who suggested the Project Linus in Macon, GA. They answered our email quickly and two of us are making two blankets each for them. They seemed very happy that we offered and had no problems with the mailing.:goodvibes

Hi,

We signed up for the project linus (internet based one in IL that you mail to) last week. I still haven't received a confirmation or denial from them. Does anyone know what the turn around time is supposed to be? Today is 5 business days. I don't want to start if they wont accept the blankets!

There were not a lot of opportunities in our area, espeically for our 6 year old!

I would remove my name from the Illinois one and do the Macon, GA. They will get back to you within a few hrs. They seem very gracious too! Maybe the Illinois one is a computer located in a school or church that was closed for the weekend. Good Luck!

Ok we did ours and now the page says we can Print your voucher now, But this is my question do yo have so long to use it after you print it. (I know it has to be used by dec 15th) but it says and used on the same day of redemption. just want to make sure not to print it to earler we are not going till this summer thanks tina:wizard:

"Day of Redemption" is the day you give the voucher to the person at the ticket booth. You can print your vouchers now (put them in a safe location) and use them when you go on your trip.

Have fun.

I still can't get past the search and signup page- help!

When you pull up the assignment description look at the bottom and read the fine print. It tells you if you accept click here and follow sign-up process. I actually changed mine to a local chapter in Southern Cal since my local was not taking them. I did get a call from one chapter who is not taking them but referred me to her sister's whose is. She said that with the Disney program chapters are getting more then they expected and are appreciative. The Costa Mesa, Ca chapter is taking any size with a minimom/ max size. You only have to make one but I did two teen age sizes. Had so much fun I bought a lot of fleece to make them through out the year. In fact my Christmas shopping is done.

I have "expressed interest" in several opportunities and have not heard back from any of them. Is it because they no longer need anyone? Or am I doing something wrong? Does expressing interest to multiple opportunities cause a problem?

I have had the same experience. We have APs so I just wanted the FPs but I don't really think I will bother with it now.

I have expressed interest in three different organizations and heard back personally from one, the second one responded in a group reply to lots of people and I never heard back from the third one.

So, all I can say is keep trying and don't limit to just one.

The woman who responded personally to me said that she was just swamped with getting her event organized and filling out all the paperwork for Disney last week, so asked that I contact her this week. I did and I'm now making up a spreadsheet with business information (address and phone numbers). Sweet! Something really easy for me to do at home while my daughters nap!

So keep trying, the non-profits may just be busy organizing. Remember this is new to them, too and they have their own work to submit to Disney just to get the jobs listed, etc.

Good luck!:goodvibes

We signed up a month ago to help with a food drive in Feb. At that time they were asking for 25 volunteers. I told a friend about the opportunity and checked to see if there were any more slots for her family.

The organization now is asking for 9000 volunteers! I knew that had to be a mistake, so I contacted the organization several times. No one has responded.

I watch the ticker daily and it appears that close to 300 have signed up now. I am worried that we all will be turned away when the day comes. I don't want to quit it though because it is one of the few things my family can do locally.

I just hope they recognize the problem soon and only ask the first 25 people to participate.

We signed up to work for a local Children's Theatre and the nice part is that it is only from 10am until 12:30pm.

We did Project Linus in NH and had 4 of us volunteer. We made 5 fleece blankets between us, all Disney themed which the kids loved doing. I sent them out last Friday and on Tues AM had the email from Disney we could print out vouchers. YEAH! :yay:

We leave on 2/10 and are planning on the FP route. I'm hoping someone does it before us so we can have some feedback, but if not I'll report back sometime around the 20th!

Great! I definitely want to know about the FP since that's what I plan to do!

For those who volunteered in Wall, NJ, on the 17th, did you get any kind of email or voucher info. I haven't heard anything and I know it's only been a couple of days, but just want to make sure I didn't miss anything. Thanks!

I just signed up for the Family Volunteer Item Drive for Children in Foster Care at Blossom in Wall, NJ. I thought this was a good one for my 7 year old to help with.
