Disney dangled the visual weinee & Mickeystoontown gobbled it up! 10/26

More great tour photos!!! Love your descriptions and attention to detail. I can see the size of the resort being a double-edged sword. Lots of places to explore and walk around, but I'm sure some of the areas are out of the way.

Tell me about the view categories- are the views from an inside window or from the outside hallway?

Dee, the longest walk that I had was about 7 1/2 minutes from the furthest building to Old Port Royale (food court, main pool, store). I like it being spread out but some folks want a smaller, more compact resort.

The pictures that I took were, obviously, taken standing outside the door to the room. The pictures that I posted earlier on were taken from our room window or standing in our doorway.

Wandering and Pondering!

I know that I said that the last post contained all of my walk about the resort but I found a few more pictures. It doesn't surprise me as I had wondered why I didn't take at least a couple more as I walked to our building in Jamaica.

The lift at the Aruba quiet pool:

More buildings in Aruba:

When I reached the bridge that goes over the lake and through the island, I walked up the bridge a bit so that I could get a good shot of the landscaping near the base of the bridge. Yeah, well, it ended up being blurry:

I went back to the main promenade and started towards Jamaica. See the section of concrete to the left? That's where the mousekeepers and pizza delivery people park their carts. When we rent surrey bikes, we often pull over on those concrete pads when we see a larger group coming our way.

I was nearing our building and the Jamaica quiet pool, so I took the first pathway to my right:

It's been eight months since our trip so I am a little foggy on what happened next. I think that John was on a lounger on the beach and Hunter was in the room still but I can't say for sure. I can say that it was time for us all to get ready for our dinner reservation. We were going to try a new restaurant and visit a resort that we had never seen before. Again, my memory is foggy but I think that we took a bus to Epcot and then walked over to the bus stop for our next destination. Yeah, yeah, now I remember that that's correct because we were the only people on the bus and our bus driver was super duper nice. She asked where we were from, was this our first trip, and so on. She asked how we were enjoying our stay at Old Key West and we told her that we weren't staying there and that we were just going to have dinner there. She was quick to give us tips on what bus stop to get off on and things to see at the resort. Any good Diser knows that the things that a bus driver aren't always the truth but this lady knew her stuff. When we got to the resort, she told us that she was supposed to make the loop and then stop at the Hospitality House but that we would want to get off at the ____stop (I can't remember which one). She pointed to the building where Olivia's was located and said that it was just a short walk from where we were. We thanked her for the great information and were on our way to Olivia's.

As we crossed a bridge, Hunter stopped to look at the resort and ponder:

The resort is so beautiful and it reminds me a lot of the CBR with it's landscaping and coloring. If there were only beaches, I could probably talk John into a stay there.

Wandering and pondering continued

The pictures do not do the resort justice:

We had a little bit of time before our ADR so we went into the store near Olivia's to look around a bit. We weren't actually planning on buying anything, just looking. Most of my pictures of OKW are on my old cellphone with the cracked screen which keeps me from unlocking the phone. I'm too cheap to pay to repair it (I already paid $70 to repair the screen of Hunter's old iphone so I could use it.) and had uploaded some to my computer before I broke it. Oh well, it is what it is and it's not worth worrying over.

We checked in for our ADR and were taken to a table almost immediately. Within just a minute of us having been seated, the waitress was there taking our drink orders. I took this blurry picture of the interior of the restaurant. The fans look like the same ones that are in Old Port Royale at the CBR.
DSCF7234 (768x1024).jpg

As you can see, the drinks were brought out quickly and you can also see that there were quite a few empty tables . A few of them would be taken a little later on in the evening but it was never filled to capacity. As with the other restaurants that we visited, we pretty much knew what we were going to order because we had looked at the menus before the trip. John did ask what the catch of the day was and while I don't remember what it was, I do remember that she said that it was similar to sea bass which John loves. The waitress put our orders in and came back with a loaf of bread that was so declicious that we finished it off in no time. Don't judge! We Southern folk like our bread!

A second loaf was brought from the kitchen and soon thereafter so were our entrees. Hunter ordered Olivia's Classic Burger - topped with Applewood-smoked Bacon and Cheddar, Lettuce, Tomato, and Onion.

Shrimp and Grits - Sauteed Shrimp with Vegetables, Tasso Ham, and fresh Herbs served over Olivia's Famous Grits

Every single thing was absolutely delicious! So much so that we cleaned our plates. Well, I had about two spoons of the shrimp and grits left but that was it. During the meal, our waitress came to refill the drinks and ask if we needed anything. When it came time for dessert, were were simply too full. But, the waitress insisted that we order the bread pudding to share and have the other desserts to go. Did somebody say bread pudding? Oh yeah, we'll take one to share. Banana Bread Pudding Sundae - served warm with Bananas Foster topping and Vanilla Bean Ice Cream:

The two desserts to go were the Flourless Chocolate Cake - with fresh Seasonal Berries and the Mascarpone Cheesecake - with Seasonal Fruit.

After eating the banana bread pudding, we asked for our check , scanned our magic bands and left the tip for our waitress. Everything was so good....the food, the service, the atmosphere. Olivia's is definitely a return-to restaurant for our family.

**Up next: Are you tired? I'm not! Let's do somethin'!

I just ate a big dinner tonight....but those desserts look mighty good!!!!

I love the added photos of CBR.

I am so happy that you enjoyed your meal at Olivia's and plan to go back. It truly is a hidden gem. I showed Mark the picture of your dessert and he was drooling...he loves that banana bread pudding. I love the flourless cake.

It's funny how people have such different experiences at different restaurants. Mom and I ate lunch at Olivia's in October and were not very impressed. I'm almost to that point in my TR. I'm glad you guys enjoyed it this time!

What a coincidence! We took almost the exact same pictures! Look how young Elizabeth was. Just a baby!

Yeah, and my "baby" gets her learner's permit this month! Ack! How did that happen???

Dinner at Olivia's looks great! We've never been there, and it looks like a nice spot.

Whew! I finally have gotten all caught up! No way will I respond to 100 pages (although many were refresher reads)! But as usual so much fun reading along! It just makes me yearn for our summer trip in 79 days!!

Nice pics on Jungle Cruise. We do it every other trip now. LOL.

Love the mermaid ride, nice pics.

Never used the email alerts and I guess it is a good thing. LOL.

Nice pics walking around.

Glad your party was good.

More great pics around the resort.

Love Olivia’s. That shrimp & grits is delicious.

All caught up.

If we end up selling maybe I will see you around Disney as that is the time we should be down there looking for a place to move to. If we sell.

Olivia's isn't a restaurant you see featured in a lot of people's TRs, so it was nice to read about your experience there. Sounds like it was an overall great place to dine. Nice CMs, delicious food, and awesome service. Can't go wrong with that!

Your photos of CBR from the previous update look fantastic. Tells me the resort really does feel laid back and relaxed. I have never visited CBR before, but seeing your pictures makes me feel like I was there.

I have never eaten at Olivias and haven't really heard much about it, but you have intrugued me to maybe try it out someday. Your resort wanderings are great.

YUM YUM YUM!!! I have hardly ever heard a bad review of Olivia's and I am dying to try it! I need to add it to the never ending, ever growing Disney Bucket List!

Great pics of the CBR! Brings back memories of times I have stayed there. Glad you enjoyed your dinner at Olivia's. I have wanted to try it there since my brother went and raved about it.

I love the CBR pictures and the pics of Olivias. Ill have to put Olivia's on my to do list.

We all looked for you and Mary and the girls when we were there. I should have sent a text to see if ya'll were still in the parks or nearby.

Olivia's was one of our favorite restaurants this trip. We loved it!

I have never eaten at Olivias and haven't really heard much about it, but you have intrugued me to maybe try it out someday. Your resort wanderings are great.

I read about Olivia's on several reports and there wasn't a single bad review. I'm so glad that we ended up there.

YUM YUM YUM!!! I have hardly ever heard a bad review of Olivia's and I am dying to try it! I need to add it to the never ending, ever growing Disney Bucket List!

Yep, add it to the restaurant bucket list. You'll be glad that you did.

Great pics of the CBR! Brings back memories of times I have stayed there. Glad you enjoyed your dinner at Olivia's. I have wanted to try it there since my brother went and raved about it.

I am just itching to get back to both the CBR and Olivia's!

I love the CBR pictures and the pics of Olivias. Ill have to put Olivia's on my to do list.

I wish that my pictures inside of Olivia's had turned out better but there's always next trip to try again.

Are you tired? I'm not! Let's do somethin'!

***Flip flop callywhop! I think that I had my pictures uploaded to do a complete post. I'll save my darn spot and come back in a bit. Gotta find the other pictures.

I'm caught up again. I'm still reading along but my IPad broke so I've been using my phone and I hate replying on this thing. Olivia's looks real good, nice to see a review on it.
