Disney Cuts After Hours Event Price for Passholders

Disney hasn't gotten rid of EMH yet.

Of course they are now having fewer EMH nights at MK than they had in previous years. It's down to Wednesday nights now and that's it. Which fuels the anticipation that the option will be completely gone at some point.

I've been to some EMH nights that weren't sparsely attended. Usually the ones that took place at MK during its hard ticket party season, when everybody wanted the chance to go to MK at night without having to buy a party ticket.

Correct, the VIP tours don't get walk-ons, they wait in the fastpass line. I suppose with really big celebrities they make some accommodations. The only group that consistently gets front of line is Make A Wish and those like it.

I beleive its over $400 per hour for private tours. Which is what provides expedited ride access. And you still have to wait on FP lines.

Holy moly seriously? There I was in blissful ignorance lol.. Thank you for the info. Most interesting!

Now these after hour tickets look really good value!
400-600 per hour, depending on season, 7 hour minimum, plus park admissions and meals.

Yes, you can do this. When you activate your AP tell them to make sure it's prioritized so the system doesn't take a park ticket instead of the AP.
Or you can assign the ticket to a dummy person on your MDE account until you are ready to use it, then move it back to you.

Does this include tickets I bought as part of package? (sidenote: thanks for the help! Super new to the AP system)

To be fare though, Disney started reducing EMH well before the ticketed extra hour events came about. And the talk of them eliminating EMH has been out there for a couple years too.

I wonder if the reduction in EMH isn't due to the reason so many like them, they are sparsely attended. Makes Disney wonder if it's worth doing them. Not to mention the nightmare of keeping non eligible guests out. When they needed KTTW cards it was slightly easier. Now with MB it's much more difficult. It is likely easier for them to just keep them at a minimum.

Maybe you are right that they should never be like their major competition but they certainly need to do things to compete with them or they will no longer have to worry about having major competition.
This is true. For the families doing Universal this DAH event may make someone decide to do a night (or extra night) at MK. WDW trips have a limited shelf life for my family..but if doing a universal/beach compo trip in the future we would still do 2 days at DW..Disney picks up a little extra money with this, and gives a family more options while in Orlando. I may choose to cut a Universal day short...or cut 1 out all together. Either way, my day is now free to do something else.. same even for onsite...now instead of taking a full resort day, we head to MK at 7. So many scenarios that could benefit people. As long as DAH isn't every night, which I highly, highly doubt it ever would be, EMH stays intact.

Yes, though I am far from an expert on this, I believe the Mod Hiro is (but I may be wrong on the username), it is my understanding you can move tickets to another or have them lower priority. But I have not done it myself.

Disney tour guides charge like $250 an hour to get walk on rides least this is cheaper!

It's not walk on, it's unlimited fastpass+. You still need to get into teh fastpass line,
Is that per person?

That's per guide.. I think it's up to 6 people before you need to get an additional VIP Tour Guide and pay even more.. It's also unlimited fastpass+ and walk on. I've seen fastpass+ be the longer line lately. The new system has people snagging passes before they even see there is no standby line these days...

I'm not seeing any option of adding in the AP discount. I'm signed in with my account associated with my AP, but it's still showing full price and I don't see anywhere to select the discount like I do when booking rooms. At what point should I see it?

If your talking about the after hours, go into the annual pass website -> events and you'll see the phone number to call. You must call or go to a WDW ticket window to purchase after hours with ap/dvc discount.

edited to add:

It's been posted online at blogs and news papers so the numbers are:

To purchase tickets, Passholders may call 407-560-PASS, while Disney Vacation Club members may call 800-800-9800. All discounted tickets will be set up for will call and a valid Annual Pass or Disney Vacation Club membership card must be shown when tickets are picked up.

. Being close to a park is a decent reason but I think that it won't necessarily be enough for some people.

For me, the convenience of onsite is actually a big selling point, but it doesn't add infinite value. IMO, proximity adds $20/night to the values, $50/night at the mods, and about $100/night for the deluxes WHEN the WDW transportation system is working property.

This summer, a base level room at GF is over $600 per night, and that doesn't include any food. If you want a basic breakfast platter at GF, that will cost you another $15 plus more of coffee. For the buffet, be prepared to shell out $30 per person.

I can get a full suite at the DTD Hilton including breakfast for a mere $137.

I'm nostalgic for WDW, but not $600/day nostalgic.

Over the course of a week that's an upcharge of over $4,000!

Yeah here's a bit of perspective-

On 11/26 we are doing 7 nights on the Fantasy. Cat 4a. Midship. The "most expensive" non concierge category/locations. Afterwards we are doing 4 nights at CR in a theme park view room (non club level). The cost of the 7 night cruise vs the cost of the 4 night WDW is the about same.lol.
To be fair though, we will do quite a few extras at dw..and once you add excursions, gratuities, transfers, shopping etc the cruise will come out to be significantly more.

WDW prices are CRAZY. But they draw you in with the convenience factor if solely doing WDW while in Orlando. But as I said earlier, this is a limited time thing for us. As soon as my son is tall enough for the big roller coasters we will switch to Universal. And---we are doing a Northern Europe cruise next year, I was completely unwilling to pay the absolutely insane pricing on DCL for this itinerary..So, I booked a different cruise line. Disney can ONLY get my money IF I see the value in giving it to them, and in some cases I just don't see it.

It is worth it to my family to pay to stay at Boardwalk so that we can walk to 2 of 4 parks and/or take the monorail. GF and Poly are sadly a no way for us. I would never pay those prices and was very disappointed in them, as those 2 are on my Disney Bucket List.

We will not stay offsite, but this is why we don't go every year. We'd rather stay onsite in a deluxe then go more frequently.

ETA: We made this decision after staying at POR last trip. We just didn't like being away from the deluxe proximity to the parks. Like I've said before: Value is subjective.

Frankly, I'm kind of surprised at the number of people who are find the $75 price point to be "so much more reasonable". I guess I can see that in comparison to $150 it seems reasonable, but compared to e-ticket nights in 2004 for $12 (which would be $16 adjusted for inflation), $75 still seems pretty ridiculous to me. If you throw in 3 ice cream treats, I might be willing to pay $25. The only time I could see doing this is if I were a DVC member without park tickets.

I can't see how they would possibly add this for $25 and maintain the staff to do so. People also have more money now than in 2004. And you also have an entire new generation with disposable income. A generation who was not hit by the recession.

I think they're trying to find ways to increase their revenue while maintaining a high level of service and satisfaction to their guests, and I think this is an example of it.

You are entitled to your own opinion, but there is quite a bit of factual evidence that the old level of service hasn't been maintained at WDW.

Pictures of the GF show a working monorail. Pictures of WL don't show the woods completely ripped out for the ongoing construction. The deluxe hotels advertise ample self-parking. Parking capacity has not kept pace with DVC additions.

We paid $364 to stay at WL just two years ago. This summer, the value of that room is significantly lowered because the scenic view no longer exits. Woods have been replaced by construction dirt.

Yet somehow WDW has raised the price $215 per night!
