Hi I have read on DRLP today that the disney cruise will return to europe for five month touring schedule in 2010 - mediterranean and brand new baltic itinerary!!
Been on sale since last October but I can't beleive they sell at the prices they charge.
We would have loved to have done the 11 night Baltic but for the 3 of us its £7,000 and thats with no flights.
Instead doing 25 nights to Florida, 7 night cruise(western) business class flights, OKW for 16 nights with DDP, 2 nights AKL, full size car & gold cover 3x 21 day Disney tickets Total £6,000
Like Wayne we wanted in for the Baltic 11 night cruise but it was so expensive that I couldn't justify it. Similar itineraries on other lines are typically around half to two thirds of the cost.
I am gutted to miss out on the Baltics with DCL but in the current climate I am amazed they can sell at the price they are charging.
We looked at doing it then decided to do the transatlantic that was a fraction of the cost, we could probabbly fly to each destination for a weekend and have change for what the baltic would cost!
We're currently booked for one of the 12 night Baltic cruises but I'm sorry to say it's looking more and more likely that if the exchange rate remains at the current shocking level and the general ecomony doesn't pick up then we will have to cancel at booking confirmation time
if the exchange rate remains at the current schokking level and the general ecomony doesn't pick up then we will have to cancel at booking confirmation time
I think there will be lots considering the same thing.
We considered cancelling the 7 night Western, could make about £300 profit as we would get refund at the better rate then we paid but taking into account extra car hire, hotel & food we decided to keep the cruise, £1,800 for 3 of us is still not bad, it was just a lot better at £1,500($2/£1) glad we paid half at the good rate.
I still cant believe difference, £1,800 7 night Western, £7,000 for extra few nights Baltic.
We got a quote for the Baltic cruise and it came back at £7,000 for 5 (incl 2 children) and we nearly died!! Considering I usually do caribbean cruises with Carnival for around £400 each for a WEEK, my dad (the OLD one in the group) screamed blue murder and decided that we are all going back to Florida next year, for a week onsite stay and cruise! And this is a man who hates the Caribbean, cruises and Disney to boot. And Orlando as my ex lives there lol.
But I'm bummed. I always seem to sail away from port next to the Disney Magic and promised myself one day.......and now it's sailing 15 mins down the road from me I shall still be saying one day! Gutted doesn't even come close.
Still, Dad's coming round to Disney after our new year trip together to DLP and we're going back in July for 6 days. At least I converted him one way though
