Hey everyone,

So we booked a three night UK cruise today and have the room on hold as we can’t decide what to do

me and my wife Will be travelling with 2 babies that has just turned 6 months old at the time of the cruise

we were all set to book but the nursary been closed was a downer for us a bit as there’s now no polo or no time together ourself

a few questions we have is

- is the frozen dinner show still on

- can you still use hot tubs and mini golf

- is the buffet still open but they serve you

- where can we go for some cocktails all Together and if there sleeping in a stroller will they allow them to stay in them in the bars etc

- do you think there is enough to do, my wife is a bit worried with so much been closed there won’t be enough to do

- what things is there to really do during the day time especially

and just some advice if you think we should go or not

We both haven’t been away for years and with and with this been so close we thought it was a good choice until we herd about the nursery

thanks for any tips

In my opinion a cruise with twin infants with a lot of pandemic restrictions is not going to be the best choice for a first cruise. Besides the nursery being closed, it sounds like most activities will need to be pre-booked and infants are unpredictable to say the least.

I know nothing about what will or won’t be open for these sailings, but I do know:

Unless it’s been added since 2019, the Magic does not have mini-golf.

The Promenade lounge (between Lumiere’s and Rapunzel’s) will welcome all guests throughout the day, including those sleeping in strollers, so you could get cocktails there.

I don't think there ever was a frozen dinner show. There was tangled but I haven't seen anything to say yay or nay to that.
They're also advertising freezing the night away, which was a deck party, but no one knows what that will look like, especially with the great British weather....

I assume you can use hot tubs but I guess only when you have a pool reservations.
The magic doesn't have mini golf.

They have advertised Cabanas being open, but not in what form (buffet or table service).

I guess they'll have bingo to play during the day, as well as character sightings, potentially movies in the theatre, trivias and quizzes. Maybe they'll bring back some of the ship wide scavenger hunts in some form...

The hot tubs, assuming they have them, can’t be used for the babies. They can’t get into any pools until they are potty trained, but could use the splash area (Pre CoVid at least).
They don’t let any kids in the adult bar areas after 9 and not in the adult pool/cove cafe anytime.

Im a big fan of cruising with babies, BUT that’s when you have a nursery and can get some adult downtime. The way this is set up you’ll have 2 babies 24\7 and will be pretty limited in some of the activities. Having a nursery escape during dinner for my baby was huge because dinners are long and it’s not fun sitting at a table with a cranky baby. Personally for me, this would not be very fun and at the cost with diminished services may actually turn you off DCL altogether (which could save tons over the years!)

There is no way I would go on this cruise with 2, 6-month old babies if the nursery is closed or if I didn't have another adult on-hand to help. We took our first cruise when DS was 3 and he did not want to go to the kids' club. While I love my child, I was hoping for a bit of a break, some adult time and even an adults-only dinner. It didn't happen. It meant I spent my whole vacation trying to entertain my 3-year old, who was out of sorts on the ship and this was pre-covid when everything was open and available. We took our next cruise when he was 6 years old and it was a much better experience for everyone.

All the struggles of caring for infants without any of the comforts of home. I think this would be a pass. Unless you really just want someone to make all of your meals and clean your room for 3 nights. 2 pack n plays makes a room pretty small.

As a noob, what’s a pick b play?

I found this picture online of two pack n plays set up in a cabin. This appears to be an Ocean View Cabin (port hole)
There is a curtain that separates the area. It’s an older picture so now the TV is a flat screen TV on an arm that you can pull on your side of the curtain if the babies are sleeping.

Oh wow ok! We assumed the table was bolted down

The answer to your question depends largely on the temperament of the infants. That might be hard to tell at this point. If they can sit in a high chair, perhaps with blanket supports, they might enjoy some of the commotion of the dining room. I have seen infants sleeping in strollers as well. The servers are extremely helpful in making space for a stroller - the Magic dining rooms are spacious compared to most cruise ships. And servers generally will bring your meal to the room if you can't make it through the meal with a fussy child. This is better food than the room service menu. If you can, book a cabin with a verandah and your meal will seem very special. You can take them into the shows - I have seen many infants enchanted with the music and lights and people. I have traveled on the Magic with 3 infants (as a Grandma) , but the nursery has always been open. I think you could have a great time, just be flexible and don't expect to do everything.

Thanks for your reply’s everyone

we are still we decide for sure but after reading this I’m slowly starting to think it’s best to give it a miss

and just go to work instead 😔
