Disney Cruise using points - insurance

I must admit that I think the value of the cruise is worth more than the money that the Travel Guard values it at. They would give you only $5 per point. However, I don't know any other insurance coverage that you can get, maybe someone else can help both of us. We do buy the other parts as well.

This will be our second cruise on points and we did buy the TG insurance the last time.

Travel Guard is the company that has the brochure that is enclosed when you get your reservation from DVC. You have to buy it before the penalty period, for DVC points that's 90 days out and we're coming up to that for the Member's Cruise.

Thanks for response but I am a little confused. I didn't realize that I had to purchase certain trip insurance when using points. I went onto insuremytrip.com. I thought I could insure the value of the cruise with any of the insurers. Not true?
We are insuring the cruise and the air.
Our concern is that our cruise is in January and we live in NE.

I would call the insurers and discuss it before you buy the policy. If you have a claim, you have to prove how much non-refundable money you lost. Since it's points, that's hard to put a value on. That's why DVC has a policy that is specifically written for points.
